Water on the floor sounds great until you try it. Get ready for a mess. Just hit the floor with a shop vac a day or two before you spray. You don't want water droplets dripping off the air hose on the panel during clear coat stage. Water is the Kiss of Death for clear coat. Nice Sagola 4600. A very expensive gun and worth every penny.

The technical data sheet will tell you if the clear is compatible with your base coat, most are these days. I buy my paint at O'reilly's believe it or not and my clear for Amazon or the local Sherwin williams store.

@GarageNoise do you put an extra coat if you plan to cut and compound or is two enough?
@Supercarlsunday16 күн бұрын
Hi, there looked to be a bit of mapping in the basecoat, around the primed areas. I tend to always dust the base on to start with every time so I don't get any problems and work from there applying heavier coats. I generally thin out and do a dust/ drop coat before lacquer and yes I tack off every coat in between. Did you thin the lacquer at all? Also good idea for viewers to check spec sheet of any lacquer they are using for times between coats ect. By the way, another great video! Good tips for your viewers! Have you ever thought about building your own spray booth? Or even get a second hand one for cheap maybe.. Thanks for taking the time to read my comment.

hi just donated to your channel . what i donated is nothing infornt of your services and tips and knowledge that you are shraring. Appreciate if you can aswer below question i paint cars in my home alll time. one challenge i face on horizontal panel like hood is that once i am done with clear coat it looks fantastic but after 10 to 20 minutes , the fumes that got created while applying clear coat land back on to the hood because of horizontal surface, i always always have to wet sand and buff to overcome. some says open garage door to half and put some exhuast fan to get the fumes sucked out so it wont land back on panel again. How did you overcome this. please advise.
@GarageNoise16 күн бұрын
Honestly, I don't think it's the overspay that's causing this. I've never had that problem. I hear people say that all the time. It's most likely what's called die back caused by waiting too long in between Coats of clear. If you wait too long, it's gonna severely impact the dieback. Now I could be totally wrong if you're actually feeling overspray on the panel, and you know for sure it's overspray.Then I would definitely get a exhaust fan to remove some of the fumes. if you're losing gloss, Then it's probably dieback, or what they call pinching.That can be caused by Waiting too long in between Coats of clear. Depending on the temperature should only be ten to fifteen minutes in-between coats. Dieback can also be caused by cheap, clear coat as well. If it's actually overspray that you can feel on the panel after it dries, then definitely get rid of some of those fumes, it really shouldn't take much.

SEEMS LIKE that primer is shrinking. or i am not waiting for cure or i have to use 2k primer and wait atleast 3 to 5 hours before painting. any tips is greatly appreciated.

Great to watch you paint. I have an issue with my clear. After painting my doors I let the clear dry for about 3 weeks and installed them on the vehicle. After about 3 more weeks on the vehicle the clear coat reacted with the rubber seal around the doors. I am not sure what went wrong as I mixed the clear per the instructions and it looked great when it was done. Any help would be appreciated.
@GarageNoise16 күн бұрын
That's really weird! It sounds like a chemical reaction. Is it an older vehicle? Did you seal it? The reason Ibasknis older vehicles used a different style of paint a 1k at that can cause a reaction.
@Frank-cx2fj16 күн бұрын
@@GarageNoiseI sealed it with epoxy prior to base coat. I also noticed the clear coat is reacting or wrinkling at the door handles where there is a rubber gasket. It’s only reacting where it touches any type of rubber.
