Great advice Sam about adjusting the green with a little red, greens have always been make or break in my paintings.

Thanks Henry, yeah green can be a tricky colour, I find adding a little red makes them look more natural 😀

This was so much fun to watch. I am an avid oil painter and sometimes hate the cleanup. I recently dove back into gouache and forgot how much fun it can be. I also have that exact brush set and never knew how to use the egbert brush. Thanks for the tip. Looking forward to more of these gouache videos!

You are an amazing tutor, detailing the steps and colour mixes, thanks ever so much for this. I am somewhat new to gouache, coming from watercolour painting. It's fascinating that you go from dark to light, as opposite to watercolour. I enjoyed the small palette and the versatile green mixes. I am off to explore the rest of your Gouache playlist, which hopefully will get longer soon. Your landscape really came to life with these colours.

I love this video very much. I only recently got into gouache. And I have to say it has all the benefits you mentioned in the video. I'm still walking in baby shoes. The last time I dealt with landscape painting was almost 30 years ago. At that time, gouache was not even considered an art material in my artistic circle. What a pity. Now I've looked around at the landscape painters on the Internet. Mostly they paint in oil. There is still a lot in it to learn for me, because as you said, the paint application also reminds me of the oil painting of my student days. Now I've got hooked with your work. You remind me a lot of the early French impressionists, also of the Russian realist impressionists. I like this style very much. It's the freshness and the bold brushstrokes that you use that I really like. I would love to see more of your gouache work. Do you also have exercises or demonstrations in gouache on your Patreon?

Thank you so much for your nice comments. Gouache painting is something I have really been getting into over the last few months. I find gouache painting is a great medium as part of my painting design design process and at present I have been doing small gouache paintings to see if I want to take the idea further, ultimately into an oil painting. If you are on Instagram check out Scott Christensen and Squatchgouache as these two artists create magnificent gouache paintings, really inspiring. I think gouache is a great medium. With regards to my Patreon channel I have recently been uploading gouache tutorials and I'll be uploading more over the coming months 😊

Yes please! Can you please give some suggestions on how to store gouache paints? Do you use the dried paint as well? Some of my gouache paints (put into watercolor palette) caught fungus somehow after which I have never used them!
@SamuelEarpArtist Жыл бұрын
The gouache paints I use are made by Winsor and Newton and they come in tubes. I do reuse the dried paint on my palette by wetting it again. I've not heard of paint getting fungus on it and if that is the case I would throw it out and use fresh paint. Make sure your palette is thoroughly cleaned as well 😊

Thanks a lot for these gouache videos! Which gouache paints do you recommend for a beginner? I purchased from you a landscape tutorial some months ago, and do you think that i can use gouache paint insted oils? thanks for any help!
@SamuelEarpArtist2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Henrique, the gouache paints I was using I got as a set a couple of years ago and they are a brand I have never heard of. The quality seems ok. I have heard Windsor and Newton gouache paints are good and I am going to buy some of these myself. With regards to painting the art works in my painting videos you purchased, I see no reason why you couldn’t paint these in gouache, I reckon gouache paintings of these landscapes / seascapes would look really good 😊
