Enjoyed this video. Became tired of waiting for oils to dry to layer or to correct. Got the acrylics out, took a minute to change my process from oils to acrylics. Corrections are much easier. I use glazing liquid to help the flow. Definitely makes me paint in a looser style.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. Have you ever used Winsor and Newton's Liquin Original with your oil painting? It speeds up the drying time 😀

I've recently moved from full time acrylics to oil and now paint almost exclusively with it. Being in Australia I've really benefited form longer working times and love the ease of blending. That being said, I still love going back to acrylics every now and then and smashing out a painting in a fraction of the time! Gotta have fun with it!

I paint with acrylics because of a lung condition I can't aggravate with fumes. I love your artwork above and learned so much! I also love your skool community and visit it every day now. THANKS for all you do.

👋Hi Sam, great video, a beautiful painting tutorial with great instructions / explanations as always. Maybe in the future I might switch to acrylics, don't know yet. In the end, I like all paintings, whether acrylics or oils. Thank you, have a nice time.💖

Thanks so much. I am mainly an oil painter and it is my favourite medium to paint with, but you can get some great results with acrylics 😀

You're always welcome, Sam. A suggestion, if you want to use slower drying acrylics: The American painter DAVID JANSEN has invented his own brands of acrylics which one can order through his YT channel. There is also a medium which slows down the drying time. 💖@@SamuelEarpArtist

Thank you, Samuel, for this excellent lesson in acrylics. It is my medium of choice, & I don't find very many offering a more traditional oil-like style in it. I appreciate your instruction on dealing with the issues specific to this medium. Beautiful painting.

I paint with Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Gouache, Casein and everything else I can get my hands on :-) I also do oil and soft pastels, graphite and charcoal. I also sculpt in stone and wood. I do art for my personal pleasure so having such diverse interest (and never getting all that good at any of them) isn't an issue. This is a nice landscape and a fun video, Thanks!

You've done another great job Sam! I don't know how long you've painted with acrylics since I've mostly seen you paint with oils, but you do an amazing job. It looks second nature to you. It looks fantastic. I really love how you weave the principles of painting right into your teaching. You're also very good at explaining which colors you're using in the mixes and which brushes you're using. I personally started with oils but have moved to acrylics. I love the ability to layer quickly without the underlayer coming through. And I've also found wonderful ways to keep the paint blendable when I need that. I personally feel like the upsides and benefits are stronger with the way I like to paint using acrylics. Although both mediums done right are beautiful, I love the speed and spontaneity that acrylics can allow. I can get the colors I want without waiting for the underlayer to dry. You're tree scene is beautiful. I loved that you just added a glorious tree to this world. I'd love to be there.

Thank you so much, awesome comment. I've only recently started painting with acrylics again mainly because I have had so many request from people to do some acrylic paintings over the years so I thought why now. Acrylics are definitely great for quick paints and studies. 😀

Looks good Sam 👍🏼 Acrylics do look really nice in the end as well. I'm an oil man myself, but have noticed water soluble oils can dry bit darker than expected sometimes too. As an aside, I'm painting my house with acrylics at the moment and the quick drying nature of them is causing me to repaint some areas, thinking they hadn't been done yet (even though they more than often had been) - The change in tone can be quite significant which can make things interesting. Cheers

Thanks so much. Yes I prefer painting with oils as well as they are the easiest to paint with in my opinion. I thought it would be fun to try acrylic painting as I have many requests to paint some landscapes in acrylics. Thanks for watching 😀

Just found you on youtube. Really giving excellent advice. Re acrylics v oils. I usually do the initial painting in acrylics, then finish off in oils. I am too impatient to wait days for my oils to dry! I have never had a problem with this, and I do commissions and sell my work. Is it frowned upon to do this?

Have you ever tried open acrylics? I find them to be an excellent halfway between acrylics and oils for people who don't paint fast but still like to blend. They also stay wet by themselves very well in a sealed palette box (no sponge needed).

I wanted to say thank you for your comment. You always learn so much from the comments. I’m switching from oil to acrylic and I have never heard of open acrylics. I googled it and I’m going to buy some on Amazon. ❤
