Hi Will, And just like that here's how you do it. A crucial part of this is seeing the colors in an image. It's obvious once you point it out, such as a cobalt violet hue in the background, but boy, I guess my eyes like to play tricks on me and I have to slow the process down to see what I'm looking at. So many variations of color in a simple subject. Can't wait to try this myself. Thank you.

“I have to slow the process down to see what I’m looking at” - that’s exactly it Laura. Drawing slows you down, colour mixing slows you down, painting slows you down. The process of creation gives you the time needed to see what you’re trying to create.

Great use of colour and shape. There was a lot of tension whether there would be a rim accent in front of the straw
