Hi Paul, I had so much fun watching with you and others in your chat! As per usual, I am definitely going to watch again, to catch every part of the tutorial. I love what I see as always a spirit of play. Yes painting is.. fun! And it takes thinking, preparation and techniques too. I love learning what colors make magic together. I love the mood in this wave. It means business! It’s a grandpa wave roaring through to the others. “Storm is coming!” I love the ocean painting here!! Have a fantastic week. Hi Stephanie - this was a fun project to paint. I did intend this to be a short 'how to' intro for a bigger painting. But as always time and circumstances had other plans. But I think the essence of the wave comes across no matter the size. One day ( yes I know it's not a date on the calendar! ) I'll get to paint this on a nice big canvas- Have fun and the next video is already in my head. Shame its not on the canvas yet! Shame I didn't have time to work this up into a bigger painting but I think this was a good example of how to tackle a scene from a photograph. Now, what next ... I have an idea 🤔🤔🤗🥰

Sounds like you're all fired up and by now I hope you have a finished painting. I used oils because it gives me lots of play time. But use what ever paint you have and adapt to suit. Sending you a big art hug😃🥰

This was gorgeous! Thanks for the fun painting session. I used gouache because I can reactivate it. Not quite on oil paint levels, but still able to be reworked/blended as needed. Thanks! 😍

Hi Lolly G - sorry it's taken me a while to answer. No that's all there was to this reference photo ( link in the description ). But I'm sure you can make up or borrow one from another image. I'd love to have some spare time to do a super sized seascape but for now its small sizes that keep me busy 😃

I see some online painters/teachers using Walnut oil. Do you use this?

Hi Don, no it's not one I've used. I have a ready supply of linseed oil from our local art warehouse. Unless you struggle to get this, try it as a stopgap. But it might not dry the same or affect the colours so do your research first. Best wishes - Paul 😃
