Hi Paul😊 your tutorial here is so very encouraging and boosts my confidence to paint! You explain every single step including how to load the brush and knife with paint, how to apply the strokes, and most of all you present all with a happy, relaxed attitude. I appreciate your take on happy accidents- that they do happen and it’s not something to fret over- but a way to approach painting as a learning process. 🙃🙂😌Thank you for showing us that painting can be achievable and enjoyable. ✨😄🖌️🎨✨

I love that Paul, and I love your teaching style. It is a lot more relaxing than the style of an older brother I had. He was not an artist, but if showing someone how he wanted something done he had very little patience and was very loud and abrasive. A mistake might lead to him stomping a mudhole in you and then stomping it back dry. I much prefer your style of teaching lol. I love the painting and want to save the video and try it soon. Thank you.

Hi Aaron - it takes all sorts and some folk are not very patient especially siblings! Teaching art has been a passion for many years and like any new skill it takes time to learn. I've always been blessed with a patient temperament. As long as folk are willing to learn I'll show them how I do it warts and all. 😃 Have a great week - Paul

You are very welcome. Gaining some confidence is key. As is some early success! If you can paint something really nice to be proud of then its like a little battery to power your next painting. Now remember - not everything you paint will be a hit. Goodness knows I've painted many that were just good firelighters. But, there were some that made my heart sing. These are the ones you look at when your happy accidents happen! Best wishes Paul 😃😍😎

I'd tried doing some photo references, and it was close but never quite the same.
@PaulRansonArt Жыл бұрын
I was given a great piece of advise by one of my teacher trainers way back when I started painting. She said 'use a photo for refrence , you don't have to marry it! ' And she was so right. If you paint something you like then thats the goal. Likely as not no one will ever see the photo unless you show it to them or theye're on the same wall together. happy painting - Paul 😎

Where do you purchase those particular air tight containers for the liquid white? By the way, your videos are SO instructive. Very informative and enjoyable.
@PaulRansonArt Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind comments. Painting and teaching has been a passion for many years so I'm pleased your enjoying the videos. The pots are from a local chain of household goods called The Range (UK). But they are a common sort of snap on lid food container available in most countries . Top tip: don't use screw lid containers!! The treads get paint on them and the lids weld themselves shut. Only very hot water softens the paint enough to get the lid off. Worse still you'll have to do this every time no matter how careful or how much you clean the treads. Have fun.😃
@Metalgods74 Жыл бұрын
@@PaulRansonArt I've noticed that. I think I almost tore a ligament in my hand trying to unscrew a lid one time 😅. Thanks again for the reply, the feedback, and the videos 👍🏻

I challenge you to use water mixable oil's you can use zinc white with linseed oil mix them and make Magic white just use about 50% white and about 50% linseed oil I don't think you will take this challenge yours ken
@PaulRansonArt8 ай бұрын
Hi Ken - I did a series of three paintings using water mixable oils during the Covid lockdown. I applied water mixable linseed oil directly to the canvas and blotted off the excess. I then applied water mixable titanium white to the canvas to get a wet on wet surface. I used water mixable oils to create 3 beginner paintings (still life , seascape and landscape) It worked great 😃
