I ve asked my landlord many times if the yellow plastic walls surrounding my tub could fixed to a nice clean crisp white and of course the answer was it can't be done. My bathrooms are 32 years old and the only things that have been replaced are the sinks and the cabinets. I am so sick of looking at these dirty stained and hard to clean showers. I just happened to go on the Internet and find you guys. This video really helps. We had a fiberglass boat and it makes so much sense to use fiberglass paint. this will save us a ton of money instead of installing a new one. Thank you so much! Oh and the cool thing is, both of my showers are exactly like yours in the video. The only thing is with my shower in my bathroom is I want to put a step in shower and get rid of the tub. I just need to find the supplies that you have used in your video.

I love you guys! My parents built our house starting in the late 70's & finishing in the very early 80's just after I was born (although I stopped aging at 25 😉). Since my parents waited until later in life to have my brother & I, they are up in age, so I am their caretaker. Our home has been moved acroos the street (long story) & added on to. We are currently having their bathroom renovated to make it handicap accommodated for my dad in order to allow his specialized lifts & mobility chairs to have full lay down & range of motion while in the shower as well as the bathroom itself. Most things we were able to do ourselves but the shower we did hire a contractor for.... it only took nearly 2yrs to find someone willing to do it to the exact specifications we needed it. Anyway, since this is a multi-generational home, I have my living space & they have theirs; we share a few common areas; much of the original house has not been updated since it was built. Yes, luvs, you read that right... I have slowly been attempting to do my own remodeling/updating as I can, however, my health isn't the best either. While my parent's bathroom is being renovated they are staying in the 3rd bedroom in my area of the house which has a private bathroom & my daughter & I are sharing a bathroom. As soon as their bathroom is finished they'll be moving back into their area of the house, my daughter will be moving into the 3rd bedroom so she'll have her own bathroom, & I am remodeling the bathroom we are currently sharing. Being that it was built starting in the late 70's & finished in the early 80's most of us know that the shower/tubs, toilets, & sinks all matched, meaning they were all the same color & no that color was not usually white or beige. Unfortunately, my bathroom was blessed with sunshine yellow. The toilet has been replaced, so yhay it's white. Now, I need to replace the sink & vanity (an inexpensive fix depending). The tub/shower is fiberglass & in very good condition despite it's age so I want to try this technique to change the color. I'm wondering if it will work because this is a pretty drastic color change, not just going from beige to white, but sunshine yellow to white?

Hey guys. Great videos and really explanatory in what you do. Also did the same with my fibreglass tub. Used boat primer and topcoat. Just a tip with the paint tins. When you buy them, at the store, before purchase, ask your paint counter to give the tin a good shake in their paint mixers. Saves ALOT of time and helps with the unwanted mesh when stirring at home... Keep up the awesome work.

love you honestly with the cleaning part. I agree with S. Patten below. Not too long or too short. Concise with good information. You're the only ones I know that discuss the reason for Marine paint as opposed to Homex. Thank you for that. BTW Using the spray paint, fumes are horrible, and it drips. Also one can top was broken and useless. Gotta invest in another box. I'm not loving it so far.

I've watched dozens of videos on resurfacing a tub. You guys are gonna be my north star. I want to do it for the same reason as anyone else - save thousands. Makes total sense to use marine paint on a fiberglass tub w/surround. Questions: 1) did streaks come through where you used regular paint brushes? 2) did the grippy surface at the bottom of the tub get preserved? 3) what kind of masks did you use?

Great job guys, average tub resurfacing of tub and surround can be anywhere from 275-500$, great way to save some money, prep work is the key to having a long lasting refinishing, but I highly recommend getting a high velocity utility blower fan with vent to move some of those fumes out of your workspace

Inspired by your video & gave it a try! I am SO HAPPY with the results! What a brilliant idea to use marine paint! It took 1 full quart per coat (I used 1qt primer & 2qt of the top coat). I would recommend taking your paint to have shaken at a big box store - twice! It’s hard to hand stir the product together. Also tried first coat without a mask and instantly regretted it - the smell is so overpowering (& I’ve painted a ton without masks - but for this stuff it is 100% required) THANK YOU for giving me the idea of marine paint & the confidence to give it a try. Replacing old ugly yellow fiberglass tubs is a nightmare & this was such a simple, EASY (yet time consuming) project! I encourage everyone to give it a try - the paint was super easy to work with - self-leveled beautifully- even if you have brush marks (which I did not have) it will look 1,000 times better than your old yellow tub ; )

I'm really, really amazed here! At the moment I've had a hard time finding the rustoleum tub and tile and I've noticed the homax doesn't have as great reviews. Ive also feared the product because ive seen it go wrong. Coat after coat to find the right coverage. Its supposed to also have a VERY strong odor anyways. I also have a fiberglass tub. Oh man. I really want to do this! Thank you guys so much!

Brianna, the fiberglass primer is extremely strong, but you could just use 2-3 coats of the marine paint. We can't guarantee how it will turn out, but it has been done before. One thing to note 🎵 is that primers make it easier for paint to stick to new surfaces. That's why we used it. Thank you for such great attention to detail! Especially with preparation. The sanding is really important. I think people that don’t sand have had issues. I was happy to see how you sanded. Were there any brush or foam texture marks after drying? I guess that’s my biggest concern. Thank you, this is an awesome video!

At first you see streaks, but this paint seems to be self leveling when it dries. You are right, it looks brand new 🆕 when you are done.
