Beautifully done. It would never have occurred to me to use wet into wet for the fuzziness of the animal.

Amazing video.....Good morning, this cat is beautiful, grandiose work of the Late Grant Fuller. I would like to know where I could find the reference photo or the sketch for this specific cat? Thank you .....

Amazing! Thank you for this video. I have a question: Did you prepare the paper surface beforehand? Did you soak the paper in water before you stuck it on the board and wet it with the brush? Or was it only wet with the brush?
@grantwfuller8 жыл бұрын
No need to wash paper these days but many soak the paper in order to stretch it. Weights 140 lb or less tend to buckle when working wet on wet.I use 200 lb. and it stays fairly flat. Tape it down dry and wet the desired area.

Beautiful... Did you put second wash to darken the ears?
@grantwfuller9 жыл бұрын
+Ali Akber Yes, the ears were glazed over to describe the shapes, almost like a double exposure where the fuzzy wet edges serve as a background for the more accurate shape of the ears. It keeps the furry look but when the paper dries, I can refine the important areas.

Hi Grant, Beautiful work, and great explanation of how to accomplish it. A question, when I tried it and mixed burnt sienna and French UB, it separates, and I don’t care for the yellow edges. I know it’s frowned upon to use a tube black, so can you recommend a mixed black that is less likely to separate and leave an unwanted coloring? Thanks!

I believe masking fluid is a "cop out" You can do cat eyes without it, even wet on wet. The Masters did not have masking fluid
@markbodle51456 жыл бұрын
"I" believe that the inclusion in this tutorial, of modern techniques, materials and skills, is perfectly valid. There were many things the "masters" would leap to use if they had been available, modern pigments for one. For an artist (before he passed) so skilled to take the time to make and freely distribute this tutorial is an indication of the type of man he was, and your comments do the same for you Patricia.

Rude!!! He's showing a tutorial. If you choose not to use it, don't. Trying to undermine someone who is sharing their talent and ideas says so much about you!
@marybirder56636 жыл бұрын
Your comment demonstrated a true lack of character. Where is your demonstration of painting cat's eyes without masking fluid? Yeah, that's what I thought!

I think you are watching the wrong video Patricia. I suggest you watch videos regarding politeness and common courtesy. Jeeze, this amazing artist is sharing his talent and offering tips to help us learn FOR FREE.
