I really do enjoy your technique and the way you control the paint and the brush. I know that you use the graded wash with splashes of colour with blooms in your background. I will try it on a a project I am trying to figure out how to do it.

I only discovered your channel a week ago. I love your style of painting. Letting the watercolour flow but end up with a detailed painting. I am very new to watercolour and find it pretty intimidating. I am used to work in pastels and coloured pencils but I really want to learn how to do this and will sign up at skillshare to see more of your tutorials. I would like to see a dog or cat tutorial in the future if possible. Thanks so much for this informative tutorial, Louise.

Thank you very much Silke. Learning to use coloured pencils is something I'd like to do. You'd probably enjoy using coloured pencil over your watercolours or even try watercolour pencil. I used to paint in acrylic but grew tired of it. I tried painting in watercolour at first but I gave up because I thought it was too difficult. I tried a second time and persisted with it. I'm so glad I did because it brings me so much joy. It's such a beautiful medium to use. I don't think I'll ever truly master it but it's so enjoyable to use it. I sometimes break out my acrylics and do a painting but half way through I wonder why I did. For me, it doesn't compare to painting in watercolour. I cover a lot more in my classes. This is a very basic overview of what I do. I've painted lots of dogs but I haven't painted a cat I'm happy with yet so I'll keep practicing! Thanks again!

hi, i love your videos. i used to be pretty good in art during school. now i am picking it up again to teach my daughter. i live in South East Asia, so most of the time, the questions that come out in the local exams are local fruit and flowers. i was wondering if you would want to try a local fruit called the RAMBUTAN? it gets pretty complicated as its quite a "hairy" fruit and the interior is smooth glossy.

Hello Louise, I was wondering what makes you decide to use Winsor violet or the ¨grey mix¨ for the shadows. I watched a lot of your videos and I still haven't figured out the difference. Thank you so much for what you do and I am seriously considering becoming a member of your patreon.
@LouiseDeMasi5 жыл бұрын
Hi Lynne. I use cool colours in the shadows. Cool colours recede and warm colours advance. You want to push shadows and things that are in shadows back- you don't want them jumping forward. My grey that I mix is usually cool because I put more blue in it than anything else and I like to drop violet into it just to add interest. Sometimes I'll just use the violet. I don't necessarily see those colours on my reference photo but I know they work on the paper so that's why I use them.
