I like how the black/khaki mix looks, great colour for weathered fabric.

The detailed explanation of hand placement is greatly appreciated. The texture on that sword would make a good video too!

Hi love your videos KitbashCarnage hear at the age of 31 iv recently got back into the warhammer/kitbashing community agen after taking 15year brake to pay bills and so on . I have taken the leap head on and started a youtube channel along with Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok. It's hard with my dyslexia and not being as young as the others as this algorithm thing is somthing to get used to along with editing and so on but my love and the flame for my lost passion has been reignited more then ever and dont plan on stopping soon . Along with having lots of content plans and already in the pipeline and also a Revamp to all social media with new header picture and profile picture from a digital contractor I sorced I hope to just gain more traction to the community iv came back to . Regards KitbashCarnage

This vid is a great explanation of a really effective technique to achieve something that really isn't easy - very good Used a little more subtly with smaller value jumps the eye can really see black volumes and texture, changing the colour of the highlight mix colour carefully gives all sorts of black cloth, even differentiating it on the same model.

Fantastic video, thank you so much! Would you say that this texture technique works for cloaks of other colors as well? Glazing back down with the shadow color to help blend in the transitions etc?
@resourcefulminiatures4 ай бұрын
of course! did something similar to what you are talking about 2 videos ago with a black cloack with texture. Now that you mention it i have to try your approach next time

Usually I do it with dark tones of blue or purple but it often ends up looking like a dark version of the color instead of black. Yours still look black. I gonna try khaki for sure. Thanks mate!!
@Leofilmperson4 ай бұрын
You can still use blue or purple, just don't skip the black glaze in the end. I've used thinned black speedpaint over purples without mixing black into the purple in the first place. Still worked.

Good luck with that, i also want to try using purples and blues another time, we ll see how it comes out

Thank you for the videos and the tips! When I try to paint thin lines like you did here they tend to come out too far. Any tips? Is it just my paint consistency or am I pushing too hard?
@resourcefulminiatures4 ай бұрын
hmm, what do you mean with too far? like too thick?

@@resourcefulminiatures sorry I meant fat!
@resourcefulminiatures4 ай бұрын
@@whitecornx probably using too much of the brush, try some brushstrokes with the very tip, or to put it in other words, distance you brush from the miniature more and see how that does.

Could I use washes instead for the last step?
@resourcefulminiatures4 ай бұрын
yes, but make sure to distribute the paint so it doesnt pool on the recesses
@philgee4864 ай бұрын
My horror though was watching the black paint split horribly when diluted to a glaze at about 2.30 with huge obvious chunks of pigment that had to be left on the palette, what paint is that so I can avoid buying it by mistake????
@resourcefulminiatures4 ай бұрын
i used the old vallejo model color black
@philgee4864 ай бұрын
@@resourcefulminiatures Strange, I use it when I've got the vallejos drawer open and not noticed any issue. Mind come to think of it I do glaze colours but don't ever glaze with black paint, I prefer speed paint and medium or dark tone or oil wash for black
@resourcefulminiatures4 ай бұрын
@@philgee486 Since i cant afford speed paints and such i keep the content on a budget with plain acrylics, but do use oil sometimes like for my first OSL tutorial. who knows, maybe mine is from a very old batch
