I think it's a testament to the formula you guys have perfected over the last few years that I keep watching every single video of yours even though I do not give a flying fuck about the horse heresy. Not the lore, the game, not the miniatures, none of it. To be fair I'm not a lore oriented person anyway, I paint miniatures because I'm attached to them. I'm still in the middle of repainting my lizardman army from when I was a kid. The general philosophy and approach you guys have when it comes to painting really inspires and motivates me, so I keep watching in-depth guides for mini's I have no interest in, just to see your pretty toys, hear your wise words and learn some general tricks along the way. Cheers lads! I'll try to come up with more helpful comments for the other latest videos. Engagement and algorithm and all that.

I know it's easy to say about anything but I love how these turned out, and the inspiration/references you drew on. That tonal range really suits me, and how satisfying the grading and play of light look on the helm and shoulder guards, down to the legs. It gets just dark enough to have a hint of something about the 3rd edition marines, but not too much. There are some absolutely brilliant painters out there who go way darker, well, those more pronounced shadows. Sometimes it can look a bit chalky, others, like the marine's stepped out of a dramatically inked graphic novel, or on a showroom floor. Much as I can appreciate osl and those bolder lighting touches a lot, the subtlety on these Blood Angels is refreshing to me, and they still have plenty of oomf or presence up close, or a few feet away I'm sure. Bit of a glowing review but this scheme kinda scratched an itch that's been building for a few months haha. So yeah, really enjoyed this one, looking forward to all you talked about too! I wonder what the bright metallic base would do for a yellow scheme...

I feel like, more than many channels, this is a channel more for painters, less for gamers: your key demo isn't slopping a contrast on and calling it good. so seeing more process description and analysis of why these decisions are being made is great and why I as an intermediate painter trying to get better keep coming back. I suspect I'm not alone in that.
@poh11265 ай бұрын
I can agree, but also slightly disagree. Based on what I've seen, particularly with this guide and the march for macragge done a while back, these can be used for gaming quite easily; I've been experimenting with both as I step into this hobby, having gotten myself an airbrush and motivation to paint more than a few small minis. These guides look fantastic and are simple to follow without being resource intensive or having too many steps. They're also doable without an airbrush, and I think with or without one, these guides are an outstanding resource to reference, even if you don't plan on going step by step with the same colors.

I like the idea of you going a little further in taking painting schemes to higher levels. The GW channel did a video where they took 3 different raptors models to varied levels of detail and quality, and I really liked that idea. A way to do the masses, more detail on elite units or unit champions/sergeants, and then important character or centerpiece level. That sort of thing in an army painting style would be a great series.
