How to paint - Bloodaxe Warboss by Mezgike

Righto, here's my take on a Bloodaxe Warboss what thinks he's as sneaky as a Space Marine. He's made his own 'Orktramarine' armour, he's got a suppressed shoota, he's giving out orders to the Kommandos in field via his techy hologram, he's got camo pants, battle damage, a post apocalyptic base with his choppa slammed into it. He's got the works.
I will upload another video very soon, which shows the conversion process of this bloke including how to make the transparent hologram. Also working on about 5 brand new videos, including Iron Warrior Lord, Khorne Berserker, Raven Guard bad boy, Space Wolves Dread, and more.

The next Ork you make should actually be the guy that your Warboss is talking too. Just have a little orky servo skull following the guy around with a hologram of an angry Warboss nagging him, while he Kommando's about. That would be quite fun! Another thing that i'd be interested in seeing, is a series where you convert Orks as if their mimicking the various chapters, this is an excellent Ultramarines copy cat ork, but it'd be hilarious and fun to see maybe a Space Wolf, A Blood Angel (or Raven Guard), maybe even a Black Templar copy cat. I know it's asking a lot, but I've been utterly blown away by what I've been seeing on your channel so far, and I just want to see more. ^^

Ridiculously cool ork. I was about to suggest orange tiger stripes camo on that blue armor (because blood axes are the sneakiest). Then I realised his taktikal unnerstandin' of da battlefield means he's so sneaky he don't need no kamo!

@@Mezgike I'm new to the hobby and most people describe painting in the same way and cut away when they do the real work. From you I learned the power of very very diluted paint to build up color and gradients. My plague marine horns finally are good after emulating your technique. Your plague marine vid not only looks amazing but actually taught me so much. I'm now confident to do stuff like put a watered down yellow over plague green to add a subtle element. Everything I did was muted and boring before learning actual skills and philosophy of painting from you. I honestly feel like I owe you money because your vids should be behind a paywall on skill share or something :) That said we all respect your time constraints I just want you to know you have true fans.

I love how much work you put into every one of your models. It's never just you putting together the model out of the box and then doing your basic basecoat, layer, highlight. You always turn each model into its own characterful conversion and methodically explain each and every step you take to paint it. It's really great and the vids are a delight to watch. I love finding out about people who also love turning their orks into space marines, although you do it a lot more profesionally than I do. Mine are far less converted, though still to a fair degree, and I chose to go with Deathwatch themes, because my headcanon is that these lads kept getting set upon by these xeno hunters and still managed to get out on top and loot everything. Combination of Blood Axe and Deathskull detachments. But you sir, have just inspired me to actually convert a model into another type of model instead of just converting the model itself with added on bits.

Every time i'd seen blue armoured Orks, i'd think how silly they looked and how the pristine nature of the blue just didn't fit in with my idea of Orks, but you nailed it man. You managed to make it look like an actual piece of battered, used, chipped grimdark armour.

Not quite the Khorne Berzerker video I was hoping for... but hey. Other alternatives to masking fluid are hairspray or salt. The salt is nice as you only need salt and water to help it stick, so it's quite easy and affordable. And when you say "Faber-Castell", I believe you mean "Faber-Castle Polychromos." They aren't the student-grade Faber-Castell pencils I had when I was 10... I already knew I could use regular graphite pencils for bare metal edge weathering, and had thought about using coloured pencils for edge highlight, but never got around to testing it. Good to see that it works.
