I think these are the best series of painting tutorials out there. The reason being is the effort put into the before (preparation of the mini/splitting of the sub-sections) and the after (prepping cool base ideas), as well as the general commentary throughout the video. The first time around I watch them, then I have them running in the background almost like a podcast while I am painting. Focusing on the words spoken it is surprising how much you take in whilst doing your own work. I'm keen to see the video about your setup and to see what you are going to paint next. Good work!

I'm nowhere near your level of skill but I feel you with the eyes mate. I tend to just paint the whites and while I try to be neat as I can I've stopped caring too much about going outside the lines. After the whites are done I just go back to tidy up with whatever flesh colour I've used for the rest of the head. I find it much easier to paint the outside of the eye than trying to get the white paint neatly into the socket. But yeah, one of the trickiest things to do in my limited experience. Wish someone would invent a tool to do them right first time! I've just found your channel with this video, love the video and your style. Lots of great painting wisdom in there, subbed and notifications on.

@Mezgike I've only recently discovered your channel. Love your work and even more love your attitude! I definitely believe your story about a friend new to glazing. I'm new to the technique too but it is so easy to get great looking shades and highlights! The main hurdle (and it's not a big one) is learning to make glazes the right consistency. I'd really like to hear what lights you use. I've tried several and always seem to not have enough making painting a strain on my eyes. Cheers!
@Mezgike5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the nice feedback man I really appreciate it. Yeah glazing just gets to a point where it clicks for you, and the consistency is just what you’re comfortable with, and if it’s not quite right you can adjust and tweak it till it’s what you like. Always remember though, the mix on the pallet can be anything. It can be 90% water and 10% paint, or 50/50 if you like. The most important thing is to make sure you load the brush with your mix, but wipe it all off so the brush is only damp. When the brush touches the model, the paint should be dry in 10 seconds or less. If it’s leaving too much of a puddle, wipe the brush a little more.

I have 2 paint stations. One is just in my house where I paint for fun or with my brothers, and I just use 2 daylight lamps. Nothing fancy. But when I’m filming I use 2 great big filming lights. Each one has 4 globes. That’s setup is amazing for painting but not practical for most people unless you have an art studio (my garage). But I recommend you at least use 2 lamps, one on either side of you. This helps to eliminate shadows so you won’t be painting in the dark. They don’t need to be expensive either, just some cheap LED lamps or daylight lamps. I prefer daylight globes because I couldn’t find an LED that didn’t cast a purplish light. That is horrible to paint under. White looks purple. Hope that info helps.

awesome video and a fantastic paintjob man! Something I learned from my ventures into scale modelling, regarding clear plastic and resin repair and polish. next time, rather than gloss coating the resin (which btw you can still do afterwards) Try wet sanding the resin in gradually increasing the grain count. So, for example, start wet sanding at 800/1000 grit, then go finer to a 4k/6k grit so on and so forth, until you get to 12k and you will end up with a completely clear and smooth resin finish.
