There is no need to fuss about squeaky floor boards or an infinite amount of umms. We are all here to be inspired by your fluid and calm approach to painting a Stuart. This was incredibly informative as always.

I was with you until the end. Thank you so much for sharing your work. I'm 73 and just trying to play. I started in my late 60's and I find that instead of sitting around feeling blue painting allows me to play. I thank you for letting us look over your shoulder. I am one who has tended to paint tightly and I want to loosen up...which sounds funny from an old broad like me! I look forward to the 2nd part of this work!

Stuart, it is NOT about being boring or being bored during the lesson, BUT more about them! They can skip forward and back if they like, but it is more about that they want to become "The ARTIST", in less than a day, produce masterpieces and even make money! It is not about you, because these people that criticize, they will keep doing it, and to any other tutorial! They should only thank you for letting us in, for giving a FULL-length tutorial for free! I just wish there could be some more, especially how to apply colour to the tonal painting. I could never begin to explain how is appreciated this video!! *THANK YOU!*

Thank you Stuart!! I've just retired, moved to Fredericksburg Texas & started painting again (Aug 2022) & am thank-full to find you & your lessons!! You are so reassuring & relaxed about the painting effort & creativity ~ you express how I feel about the painting process & results, but discounted my ability because it's not like the artists I see in the galleries... but you've given me Hope!!! I'm also so glad to see someone of your caliber painting with those big household brushes - I thought I was crazy to use them, but Here YOU are!! Yippee!!!

Maybe the best video you've done, next best thing to actually being with you. I watch all your videos from beginning to end and then again several times more. Your "ums and ahs" do not detract nor does your shoulder, don't waste any time worrying about that. Great to hear the sound of the brush on the canvas. One great revelation has been the creation of cloud effects using rolled up paper - I've always limited myself to the big brush so far. Please do more of these "live" commentaries. No microphone popping at all btw.

I know you must get tired of hearing "Absolutely beautiful!", but that's all I can think to say. I learn so much listening to you think as you paint. Your commentary is the most valuable teaching part! To only see one do something is not really that helpful if the student doesn't understand WHY. Thank you so much for these videos! 11 minutes is only for entertainment. I approach your videos as an art class, so I watched till the end. Your sense of humor keeps the coma away, and your voice is concentrative thought and pleasant. Well done! Thank you!

Watched the WHOLE video. I may be your smallest patron. Usually up at 3 am, watch ⌚️ your videos and back to bed. Helps when you show the pallette, discuss blending, and your thought process regarding composition. At 73, I've started painting again. 40 years as a litigation attorney, now back to art. Like a good marriage, frustratingly enjoyable.

Hello Stuart, its been a while since I viewed your amazing sky paintings. I really enjoy watching how you build up the drama in your sky scenes. Its encouraging to realise that you can put a number of different colours on the canvas or board to then push around and mess about with to form the pattern of sky your trying to achieve to your satisfaction. I really like also the freedom of expression that you get by utilizing this loose approach to developing a landscape. Thank you for demonstrating this method. I have tended to incorporate these lessons in my amateur painting style and actually produced a couple of paintings following your tuition and am quite pleased with the outcome. Thumbs up to you Stuart.

I watch all your videos to the end, but, being impatient, I watch at 1.25 speed. (I watch many others' videos at 1.5.) I often watch yours in two or three sessions, but it's a rainy, cool morning here, so I watched straight through, pausing only to refill my coffee mug. I don't paint in oil, so I can't apply all your techniques, but I enjoy visiting with you and absorbing your style, your approach to the art of painting. And I always remember to click Like.

Thank you Stuart, I really enjoyed that. I understand that KZbin encourages short videos, but i really appreciate an in depth length as I like to see the whole process, including palette and tissues and all the little things that I'm not aware of until I see them. I know that i often start watching a clip, not just yours, and then end up finishing watching on one of my other devices. I don't know if the analytics capture that, i'm not sure how the analytics works. But I am here to the end and thoroughly enjoying your talking while you paint, although I also like the voice over. you have a very soothing voice and you could probably recite the alphabet and I'd still enjoy it. I wish people would keep their opinions to themselves sometimes, as when they see things, like cats, it's a reflection on their internal workings rather than a valid opinion on someone else's creation. but that is just my opinion of course. :) you just keep being you and putting out great content. you are always an inspiration to me. Thank you

1) I watch all the videos start to finish, sometimes several times. Sometimes starting and stopping to see how you manage a particular effect. 2) Your voice is very pleasant, "um" and all. Everyone says "um," no one notices. It’s not excessive, anyway, and it shows you’re concentrating on what you’re doing rather than what you’re saying. "Sign of a good driver," my mum used to say. 3) As for enjoying painting, I always enjoy myself unless it’s a commission. I’ve stopped doing commissions because I don’t need the money. 4) Thank you for a very enjoyable and instructive hour. I’m looking forward to your new camera.

This painting reminds me of the moonlight works of Van Der Meer & Carl Ludwig Bille. Very dramatic & stunning. I clicked on this video because it was headlined as work on clouds. Since that is exactly what I want to learn. My daughter has done a great deal of painting, having a MFA in painting. She's been very helpful with hints, but she wasn't happy with my clouds. I headed out to the local art museum to look at Constable paintings, and then looked at more online. HOWEVER, your video has been enormously helpful is showing me how to get the "layers" in my clouds and to shape them in the irregularity of reality. I love watching your colors, and I'm surprised to see you use straight out of the tube initially and then blend them on the canvas. I have been blending mostly on my canvas. I've learned a lot from your words/images, and I will watch more over time. Thanks for doing this. (Eileen)

Absolutely NO worries about cameras, mike "pops" or video lengths & "quality" here, dear Stuart. Those of us who are interested in learning appreciate what it is you're trying to do and don't even notice such things. And the rest -- with their hyper-picky criticisms and ignorance of oil painting and your educational goals -- can be ignored. I'm one of the many here who watch every second with interest. And this is even my second time viewing it. :-) ALso - I've purchased (and even found in the bin) several tempered glass panels for very little money -- two are large (40x 50 cm) cutting boards from a discounter. They are not only "spacious" enough for your methods, they scrape/clean up in a jiffy and within a short time would prove far more economical than dishes. (Down side: they're too unwieldy to pick up and hold.)

Stuart, this was just amazing, thank you so much for your time and talents shared. Too long, haha, not at all. I could have watched another hour at least. Very informative and one of the best videos I have ever watched. Thanks again.

Stuart, I am naturally a contemplative sort of person, and the lockdown seems to have made me even more so! I also paint but not as much as I used to. Your videos - your gentle chatty voice, the way you stroke the canvas, the ums and ers - keep me pinned to my sofa to the very end, and if I do have to leave it for a few moments, I put it on pause! I love oils but tend to use them for portraits. Otherwise it’s acrylics. Oh, you have finished and the music puts the finishing touches to calm my fevered brow! (I’m an occasional poet too! 😀) Thanks for your particular modus operandi!

I watch your videos all the way through but have playback speed set to x2. I have to say that your technique for sky/clouds is amazing. I never thought it could be made so easy to paint something so complex. Thank you.

In answer to one of your questions... I watch your videos to the end and find the whole process fascinating. Your brushwork approch a big part of getting me to paint in a totally different way from my style I used before I stopped painting 14 months ago. I started again this week! Thank you for being an inspiration. Rod

Yes, I made it to the end! Have to admit that life intervened, and I came back next day to finish watching. KZbin has a little dot on the time continuation line that allowed me to click on the exact moment where I stopped yesterday. I love your style, and how you talk about your method. We might want to start writing down the memorable Stuart-isms. I particularly liked, 'Oh, I am never happy,' as you added something here and there in the background, at the end. Thank you for sharing your work.
