Great tutorial. Just one question. You said when your mop brush gets too wet and dirty you wash it out and dry it. How do you dry it? Is it just flapping it on a towel or do you blow dry it until it is completely dry? Thanks!

Hello, Lisa, I love this video! Did you ONLY use water for the cloud? And createx airbrush white paint for the sunshine?
@xphoenixrising8 жыл бұрын
I noticed you're using Liquitex basics -- that's their student line right? What are the reasons you prefer them over (for example) something like the Galleria line? I had heard the pigmentation wasn't as good, and strayed away from them myself because they were rather big bottles to commit to even on the small side.

Hey! Would you please be so kind as to explain the differences between using water continuously or retarder to keep things wet? Cheers
@ninjademochic10 жыл бұрын
Just curious, have you ever considered using powder brushes in place of mop brushes? A quality makeup powder brush might alleviate that shedding problem... I know that many starting out with makeup use brushes from art supply stores because they can be less expensive and similar sizes, shapes, and such can be found so I'm bet they could be interchangeable both ways :)

Michela Vieri Even if you use more water in your paint brush, it's going to dry too fast. You really need an airbrush to get this much of a blended look on a larger scale like this painting is.

My question is: You said: You're rarely worry if your colors a little bit off; you'll go back a little later and glaze it if you want it to be brighter or darker... how does glazing help with that? I mean, going brighter or darker with it. I'd like to know how do you work with the glazing medium to get either of those results. Do you have a video on this???? I've found some but nothing that says how you use it to go brighter or darker. "I didn't mean to write so much so I stuck my question up there, to be first. LOL" I love your paintings; I was drawn to you in February, I was fascinated with your water droplet paintings and so on from there. Droplets are so cool but I haven't gotten there yet. LOL, Mine were a mess when I tried. I figured that I was jumping ahead of myself in learning. At least, I got brave enough to try, though. I like Ryan O'Rourke's, mural, joe, Clive5art and other video's, too. Never ever thought that I could do this but now I could kick myself in the butt for not trying sooner in my life. With that said; I've got so, so much to learn and so, so little income to put out for this. I am disabled with very, very bad back problems. When pain is too bad then I can't even think through the pain to paint; even though, I want to. It's been through a gift that I got started but I squeezed through my low budget to buy some of my supplies. LOL. Anything, that I try on my own is a mess but I won't give up; I'm not one to give in easily. So, I am doing some paintings but they don't turn out like I want them even though family n friends say that they are nice. I've got so much practicing and learning to do; especially with blending. I just have to keep learning for you all, here on KZbin. I'm hoping to get money to pay for a tutorial program but just can't do it yet. Maybe someday. I hope and pray.

i checked the website where i usually get my art supplies but i can't find anything that looks like a mop brush for oil and acrylic paints the only mop brushed are for watercolor, they look like this www.danielsmith.com/Item--i-G-063-670 they are technically called "mop brushes" but not the kind you have ... I tried to search on dickblick and find the same ref on my french website but it seems pretty uncommon in France .. or i have to pick makeup brushes or it is under the gilding section but there's only one reference .. can you help me to find something similar ?
@Lachri10 жыл бұрын
Sakuems Hrmm...I picked mine up in an art store locally, but they don't carry the one I use anymore so that's no help. Hobby Lobby carries one of their "masters touch" brand that has white bristles. That one works pretty well. You can also look under the term "badger blender".
@lucytyson62759 жыл бұрын
Sakuems Hello Sakuems, I don't know if you are still looking for a blending brush but I found one on Dickblick.com website. I just saw this video for the 1st time today and when I saw your comment I had remembered seeing this brush on their website. Its called an oval wash brush but has multiple uses and not only for watercolor but touch-up work for soft edge or whatever you need it to do. I have one similar that I use for blending with my oil and acrylic paint as well. In the comments section customers gave it 4-5 stars out of 5 and most of those customers also used it for blending their oil paint too. The brush is called - Blick Scholastic Camel hair oval wash. The item numbers are; #05868-4012 oval wash 1/2" $3.45, #05868-4034 oval wash 3/4" $4.99, #05868-1001 1" $7.22 If you still need this brush it sounds like its a pretty good price, I am going to have to get another one myself. Happy painting.

***** thank you so much for this ! but i found something already in a local store ^^
@lucytyson62759 жыл бұрын
No problem, I am glad you found what you needed. Sometimes just going to an art store and looking at brushes in person it makes more sense. Its hard to figure out the size and if its the right one you are looking for there are so many types for each kind of paint it can be confusing But then again its cheaper to buy a lot of art supplies online prices always seem better. Happy painting Sakuems.

Do you have any suggestions for what I could use instead of the airbrush?
@Lachri9 жыл бұрын
+Rissa Untitled Nothing will be quite the same. Spray bottles leave heavy droplets that lift the paint. Acrylic extenders make the paint nasty and gooey.
@derickelsner68027 жыл бұрын
kinda different approach haven't seen acrylics used like oils in that way seems like it would be better just to use oils
@jacthomson49057 жыл бұрын
But this will be dry the next day, and into an exhibition the same week. An oil painting would have to wait at least 6 months before it could be varnished.

Ambi Cahira Bob Ross is a nice guy, I also watch him paint happy little trees
@debbiedavis87027 жыл бұрын
Ambi Cahira I have to share a quick story, first a bit on me... I'm 62 and by watching Bob Ross I'd paint when my young children visited Dad. I'll never forget my first cloud (oils), literally jumping up and down with excitement saying "I did it! I really did it!!!". That 1st painting hangs in my 29 to son's living room today :) I, too, was so intimidated thinking I could never do that, but not only did I, I did a beautiful sky! I've had many offers from people to either purchase it or to paint one for them. You CAN do it! It's so much fun and very rewarding! Now to my story... my daughter went downstairs a couple days ago to find her husband watching Bob Ross. He has no interest in painting. When she asked what was he watching, he replied "he's very calming." She looked at there huge 10 month old puppy and was shocked to see how he was drawn to the TV as if he'd found his soul mate! Love Bob Ross, and to quote him "There's no such thing as mistakes, just happy little accidents". I encourage you to go for it please! You will be so happy you did. Just relax and have fun. Happy painting!
