A nice guide to painting face Justin. Afraid I'm an old painter with my base, highlight, wash, highlights. Interesting use of the contrast paint though to create extra depth.
@basicminiaturepainting2 жыл бұрын
Cheers Cal I may go back to the old way though as I feel using contrast paints I'm not getting better as a painter/artist

Nice tutorial Justin, I spray white, GW elf flesh and then just a wash, sort of in between the two ways you did, not as light as you do, but not the slap it on method either, :)

Nice technique mate , if you are contrast orientated. Although I have been tempted By 4 or 5 colours I have held off of contrast paints.
@basicminiaturepainting2 жыл бұрын
I think out of the contrast range I use 5/6 the rest is Vallejo

Thank you, just ordered Guilliman Flesh, usually do a black base so white on faces will be new for me, already have the washes so that's a bonus. Always up for trying a new method and am interested to see the results. Great videos, l have watched many of them but the first time l have commented, keep them coming.

I havent tried those speedpaints yet since I have a lot of normal vallejo and citadel paints, but the result looks very quick and promising. You can easily do a top highlight with Kislev flesh on the nose and chin too to get some extra pop if needed. Gonna get some guilliman flesh and try that out myself :)

So, you've mixed Nuln oil and Agrax Earthshade because you think the results are better with a blend and the Nuln Oil is too dark, and the Agrax too brown. If you use those straight out of the tin with your technique what do the results look like? I'm thinking for things like Afghans.
@basicminiaturepainting2 жыл бұрын
If you're thinking of afgans just use agrax but either would work as.no ones skin tone is the same plus they're your miniatures
@petermillar8866Күн бұрын
I gave the contrast a try with skin but I feel it just gives an awful washed out look. Bugmans Glow, reikland flesh shade, layer with cadian, kislev small layer and highlight with flayed one flesh gives the best look. Can't beat the classic.
@basicminiaturepainting16 сағат бұрын
Sorry to hear it didn't work,but your right it some ways you can't beat the classic
