I had the SAME issue with spotting details later as I've been painting my HeroQuest minis, now I feel a lot less foolish/blind knowing someone else had the same problem. I think the modelers may have been a bit more ambitious than their printing system could support. Great videos!

Glad you like the vids! I love the heroquest models but they are absolutely not to the same quality as other minis I do, as long as you go into it knowing that I think there’s fun to be had with them.

Ha, I have been painting today and thought I’d have a look online. Trying to do both base set and Keller’s Keep Orcs in one batch and … yep, just like you guys I keep missing random details. I’m doing a more traditional paint mostly but since I have Speed Paints I have been looking to see how I might improve my approach.

Those Goblins...wow! The colour is amazing. I'm new to the hobby and can't decide between speed paints and the normal method of blocking colours in and doing your own highlights. The only thing putting me off the speed paints is it looks hard to go back over any mistakes and I'm guessing you need to be pretty good at painting? I can see myself doing a yellow and hitting it with brown or back.

The big drawback of contrast paints in my opinion is that exact thing, harder to cover up mistakes, it is fairly easy to remove the paint from parts of the model you hit by accident but you do have to spot that you’ve done it. Even going carefully it is a much faster way of painting though. I wanted to try this method on a project like this where the models are fairly basic, I will definitely use contrast paints going forward but it will be alongside other paints I would imagine not as the sole paint used.
