Thank you for the empowering technique! Not everyone has 30k or more to redo cabinets! We have 30 cabinets and dozens of drawers and are intending to DIY paint on a strict budget, hence my questions on durability of the painted surface? Especially for high use areas..?. You inspired me to think it may be possible to achieve this project. Thank you 😊

Nice job. I always do the back first painting to get into the flow of it on the least visible side for practice. Then I'm in the rhythm when doing the front. I cant believe you didn't cover areas or tape off for painting. I'd never be able to be that neat.

Any insight would be helpful, thank you for posting this video!
@lovinglifeasmegan Жыл бұрын
I would say if you were going for a deeper color then don’t worry about primer, but if you’re going for a white/light, you may want to use a primer to prevent any yellowing from the raw wood.

Hi there! Beyond Paint performs very well on plywood. Because our paint has a primer, bonder, and sealer in it’s formula you will not need to prime or sand. If you’re looking for extra durability after painting we recommend 1 to 2 thin coats of our multipurpose sealer. 😊

Hi Megan, Thanks for sharing this, I’ve been watching a lot of “how to paint cabinets” because I want to update our bathroom a little bit and youtube recommended this video to me.. 😬 What’s the finish of this paint? It looks matte on the video and the description of the product link says matte/flat too? Is it similar to chalk paint finish? 🤷🏻♀️ And how do you clean it? Will it not fade using certain cleaner? I’m not sure if that’s too early to ask since you just paint yours but If you already did that.. I would love to know your opinion.. 😬😅

Looks like you are using 1 quart size paint. How many did it take. I know that is my second question. You are doing a great job🤩😎

I think it took us a little over 1 quart. If your cabinets are not as dark then you could totally do it with less than 1 quart, but we had to do 4 full coats

How durable of a finish does that paint provide after painting over stained wood with a clear coat finish without any sanding preparation?
@lovinglifeasmegan Жыл бұрын
It’s held up great so far, but this is my first time using this paint so I can’t really speak to the durability.

What if the cabinets are varnished redwood, would this technique work?
@lovinglifeasmegan Жыл бұрын
Yes! Just make sure you degrease & clean the surface really well!

Beyond Paint works great with varnished redwood. Just be sure to clean with simple green or Zep degreaser to remove all dirt and grime to ensure the best adhesion. Hope this helps!

Did it look okay with the light texture of the Beyond Paint?
@lovinglifeasmegan Жыл бұрын
Once it dried you couldn’t really see any texture

Man I suuuuuper skeptical when I saw that technique and the first coat looking ROUGH. But wow. I do wonder what the finish feels like to the touch. Is it silky or more mat? Anything chalky feeling gives me the heebie jeebies lol. Thanks for sharing. You've made this project seem way less daunting

It’s silky but not shiny, definitely smoother than chalk paint. The best way to describe it is a professional finish.
