Thanks very much Elisabetta, I love the painting.Turner is one of my all time hero's and as you know a national hero over here in the UK. He was years ahead of his time. Take care, David.x

David I remember my visit to Tate Britain as a very intense, meaningful day. I couldn’t stop watching all the paintings especially Turner (my son was little so I had to kind of run at the end). I can imagine how much loved is Turner in the UK, but you know that we Italians are such Anglophiles! I envy you as you can probably see his paintings more often!! And If I remember well the entry was free. Incredibly civilised country. Cheers! Elisabetta

So how did you find the instructions? Were they easy to follow? Did you find yourself at any point lost or unsure how to proceed?
@WatercolorElisabetta2 жыл бұрын
I followed quite easily. They are not very detailed and you must make your own choices sometimes…this is meant to integrate learnings from Turner into your own style, not a copycat. I’m enthusiastic about this book :) btw Tate Gallery is one of my favourite places in the world I will never forget the emotion of all these paintings …Sargent, the pre Raphaelites, Turner…it was overwhelming

@@WatercolorElisabetta Thanks for the information. I only visited the Tate Modern, but I never visited the Tate. I would love to go there one day and look at Turner’s palette and instruments. I’d also love to copy one of his Paintings on location at the Tate. I wonder if we’re allowed to bring our own paints into museums?

Tate Britain if I’m not wrong has a free entrance and yes there are people drawing. It’s very crowded though! Happy painting!

I wanted to talk about something which I found very different in works by Turner in comparison to that by other Water colour artists and that is, he did a lot of painting with less diluted and even very dry water colour and that effect is very different from that by washes and wet on wet and even wet on dry technique. I think that is why he was very inspirational to impressionists and neo impressionist. My question is that as a water colour artists is it important to use such bright colours and using such thick and dry paint in landscapes which is otherwise difficult to achieve ? what is your view ?
@WatercolorElisabetta Жыл бұрын
I think it’s a matter of personal taste… I personally like to add touches of very bold colours. I see too many watercolour paintings that are very much in the same style. I loved Turner because he was so innovative, and with a splendid sense of colour.I hope this answered your question!! Thanks for asking it was a very good question.
