I'm seriously torn between the inner portion being black and the raised portion being black. I like both styles. Yours look great!

I think you've convinced me to paint the recessed areas black as well. It'll be far more tedious but they look really good.

I think both still look good, but painting the recessed areas black isn't as common and so it's just a little more unique!
