Incredible. This never really had any 'ugly' or 'trust the process' looking stage. You can just tell the whole time that it's going to be mindblowingly good. I have many Necron models to paint, so this is a video I'm going to come back to often.

I always thought that for a race that has been in stasis for millennia the official colour schemes are way to clean and crisp so painted my dynasty with heavy use of basing textures to give a grittier look. Luckily I’d held off on painting my flayed ones so now have the perfect inspiration for how to proceed with them….bring on the necrotic flesh 🤢keep up the amazing work 👍

Can all of this be done without an airbrush? I'm not able to use one because I don't have the room.
@BlackChaliceStudioКүн бұрын
Of course! I just use an airbrush due to it being a handy time saver. You could prime the mini with a black rattle can and then build up the base coat and highlight on the flesh parts using the stippling technique which gives a really nice mottled and irregular look. Start with the base coat, build this up until you’re happy with the opacity then move onto the highlight just covering less area than you previously did (imagine the light source is from above)

It dries less flexible and is easier to sculpt hard edges into so it worked quite well!

How did he get a different head like 2 min into the video ?

I decided the original head looked a little too much like he had an emo haircut so decided to swap it out! Ahah!

It’s hard to really judge how good the paint job is or if I would like to paint it when the video is so manipulated with dark filters and colour correction and low aperture. It would be ok for some of the video but feel like you should show some true lighting or light box video / photos, this video specifically is better but others in channel suffer from above issues.
@BlackChaliceStudio12 сағат бұрын
When creating videos I use raw footage and don’t apply any filters or color correction! The videos and pictures are as close to real life as possible 🙂 The choice to shoot at f.20 is made to ensure that the entire mini is in focus at all times, wide open aperture makes for some nice artistic shots but tends to limit focus to a very minimal plane, often meaning some parts of the mini are out of focus! I also find that light box photos “wash out” the paint job due to them usually being quite confined and making the lighting quite harsh!
@22Leob5 сағат бұрын
This video specifically does not suffer from it as such more the other videos creators that contribute so my bad there sorry just went with the newest video
@BlackChaliceStudio2 сағат бұрын
@@22Leobno need to apologise dude! We all have preferences when it comes to presentation, I really like the more artful / atmospheric take on things but prefer to keep things basic myself.
