Hi... some really great tips here. I'd like to offer up a couple that I use. 1. I use a small round bamboo skewers to pack out the hinge holes. 2. I use an "air wedge" to raise and lower the door to align the hinges. If you haven't seen an "air wedge" they are a great tool has a small hand ball pump and bag. Perfect tool for the job. Well, now I know how the paint crew I hired messed up. They didn’t caulk my solid wood doors before painting! And yes, the paint has cracked around every panel. What are the right steps to take to fix that? Also, two questions. How long did you wait for the trim paint to cure before taping in order to paint the walls. And..when you checked for problems after priming the doors and did those small ‘blue taped’ repairs did you prime the repairs after sanding or just paint over them? Really great video! Thanks so much.
@pbmc_3 жыл бұрын
Christina you can aways paint the edge/ return of a door casing with the trim paint prior to the walls. As far as touch up on the trim most of the time they are small enough to just use your trim paint to coverage. Sounds like you didn't have good painters. Alot out there, but few know what they're doing.

You do such an amazing job and love your videos ( as well as seeing you on that other channel sometimes). Ive used a round over on the router and a strait edge clamp to go over door inside edges and take a hair off and it works best on nasty beat up doors ( but still needs a little sanding after. I’ve also made a profile mould using Bondo with a wax paper buffer to make a contoured sanding profile ..but don’t think your doors needed the heavyweight solution. The dollar store is a great place to pick up dowels, tongue depressors and wooden skewers for shims and fillers, and I often use golf tees for larger hinge repairs.
