Ah! Emil! Thank you for the tip about NOT highlighting based on the most raised section of each volume, but instead considering how it's angled to the light source. Something clicked for me about a big step between tabletop-ready and really professional lighting. I often find my volumes look bulbous or comic-book styled, and have been seeking some more reality. This was a simple tip that helped me over a hurdle!

Since Orks are almost like mushrooms you could paint their skin is a variety of colors. Though Green is the most common. I am in the process of rebasing and repainting some of my Orks & Goblins and I think that I just might change up the skin color for some of the units I think that possibly are red or orange tone just might work well with them.

Rewatching this before paining up a unit of Orcs and was curious why the feet were done in what looks like a different color scheme? I can see them being somewhat different, but when looking at your end shots they don’t seem to have much green in them at all. Just curious. tried it for my ork 40k, it turn out nice. However, its kinda hard to have a good gradient on the boys since its mostly the arms and the head only green skin. Therefore it seems like the depth of the tone ends up on the light green side. Any tips to make it look good also on smaller mini? thanks. Also, is there a moment were you apply moot green only or you step directly from 50:50 elysian/moot to 50:50 skreaming skull/moot. thk again...

Goblins is hard because the minis are so small, the transitions have to be made on such a small surface. Also the volumes on the old models are really not defined - kind of clunky sculpts. The new ones are cool though. If you check my instagram i painted skragrott a while back going almost to yellow in the highlights. But he's one of the newest scults and have a bigger face than most goblins. instagram.com/p/BtxungknETv/

I don't know how you can get lighter colors look blended in like that with only brushing them on. Whenever I try to highlight a surface (and not just an edge) with a lighter color, it sticks out so much that it looks just like a spot of paint, but does not fit into the overall image.

Hello, sir, I wanted to thank you for this informative video. I also wanted to ask for some advice or some help on a different matter about Citadel Paint for Warhammer miniatures. a few years ago at the least 7 yrs. i got bit hard with painting war hammer figures. i went on big shopping spree and bought every color Citadel had. I do mean every color. At the time I had few months down time due to a injury so i was out of work for about 6 months and since i was home during that time and couldn't really do anything strenuous I painted a lot. So now decided I wanted to get back in to painting again so here we are. My paints have been in a big box in the house in a good safe area for a long time. I did a inventory of my paints last night. Every color pot has not been open in 7 years I have noticed some the paints dried up even with the cap being fully secure. So can you give me any advice how might salvage my paints that dried out? Or will i need to toss them and rebuild my paint inventory? Again

I would like to do more wet blending, but even when using a wet palette, my paints seem to want to dry too fast. Does my wet palette suck, or am I just an incredibly slow painter, or do I need to thin my paints even more? Seems like when I try to thin them down more to prevent this, I go too thin and the coats try to streak. Suggestions?
@DorgaMoria5 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you might have to little water, or if you have a home made version with the wrong kind of baking parchment. Make sure the paper doesn't have a coating that prevents moisture to penetrate it.
@solodragun5 жыл бұрын
@@DorgaMoria Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I got to looking on Reddit just yesterday, and there seems to be a fair bit of discrepancy in regards to the various kinds of parchment/baking sheets out there and the degree of varying permeability. Especially when you use the red at first it loos really bright and almost too red, but then when dried, it doesn't pop as much and it looks a lot smoother.
