Thank you so much for this tutorial! I had been using liquid acrylics…major brands I use for my paintings…and really had trouble making them stick. Some were Artists Loft and Liquitex. After watching your video I went to Michaels and got their Craft Smart brand. Boy what a difference! So easy to spread and even coverage. Really good advice! Thank you!

thank you so much for testing different brands etc. because I had a terrible time this year getting coverage that did not separate, where years and years ago I had no issues at all. Couldn't figure out what was different. I think years ago I used craft smart acrylic, and here I am years later and those original balls are still completely coated. Through the years I have added many different types of paint and obviously those just don't work as well. i will go back to ones you have recommended. Again, thank you so much. I will be ready for next Christmas.

Well thank you for this demonstration I was just going try the alcohol or polycyclic wax medium or the glue etc because I consistently don’t have consistency sometimes they run sometimes they work sometimes they don’t but now I know it’s because were mixing all different kinds of brands together! Thank you so much I won’t be a having to spend any money on those pouring medium’s. I discovered this type of decorating in the 90s after we purchased a wreath that had these bulbs on them. I swear to this day it was an acrylic paints because there were so thin layer it on top of each other yet strong not like our acrylics today but I could be wrong I wish I knew what medium they used for their marbling affects. Thank you again and they all of us and our loved ones are safe and well

Thank you so much! I made some painted ornaments with my Apple Barrel White Matte paint, and added some glitter to it. When I had them finished they looked so pretty, but when I put them on the tree, the paint would get wet again, and pool in the bottom of the ornament. Have you had this happen? Maybe the paint wasn’t totally dry? Or the glitter weighed it down?
@CorinneBlackstone3 жыл бұрын
The glitter probably caused some of the issue and yes if the paint wasn’t fully dry I could see this happening. A couple of mine did pool a little I have a video with what these looked like a year later on my channel as well

After a few days, did any of the paint in the ornaments start to crack and peel from the glass or plastic ornaments? I’m having that issue and not sure what happened? I used apple barrel.

I actually had this happen on my glass, but its because I baked mine. I used the folk art since I drew characters on the outside and wanted to be able to seal it all, so I figured that'd require baking it. It did not turn out well 😂. All trial and error! I've heard using either diluted school glue or floetrol from home depot or Lowes allows it to stick better and keep from peeling

Same thing happened for me, any way to fix it? I’ve tried filling the ornaments twice and still same result. There must be an oil film inside or something.

Hi. Thank you for doing that test. I have been making those ornaments a very long time. I use to use just glass ornaments. I now think 🤔 the plastic does a better job. Now that I think about it the glass and plastic are both good. I guess the problem is if the glass gets to close to the Christmas tree 🎄 lights it melts it. I think 🤔 any paint will work.
