Sherwin Williams Emerald is ANSOLUTELY the best paint for vinyl...i painted my house three years ago still looks like new...no peeling no cracking perfect three summers later and perfect...use scrubbing bubbles bath cleaner spray to clean Siding and wet rag...hose it down..that's all..let it dry then paint...forget masking too long, just be carefull and use smaller brush by j chanell

check heat rate darker color have high white has low heat rate it will melt and warp ( use gray blues not black color addings) lines where siding connect will show color underneath as it contracts just put new siding on it just the same

HuGO would you still recommend getting a vinyl safe paint if you are going to paint the house white? I purchased the SW brand and they told me that I did not need the vinyl safe because I was doing white.

Great how to video! One thing I noticed was when someone shingled your house they didn't put flashing under the siding where your roof meets the wall to prevent water intrusion.

This video was extremely helpful. My husband‘s friend told us we should never a pain to vinyl siding because it will just heal over time but I think a coat of paint will give the house a fresh look.

No, honestly we cleaned all the siding by hand before painting and the paint adhered extremely well

how long does the paint typically last? And on a really old house with siding leaking the color onto brick would it be worth painting the siding is verry brittle but has no holes or broken pieces.. also instead of using a roller would a paint gun be much more effective?

Scott Grimard I would say that it can last about 10 years based on other projects that I have done. A roller helps to avoid painting unnecessary areas

I beleive that was an old theory for standard paints. From what I've seen, if you use a vinyl specific paint and prep the surface well, you can go as dark as you want. Don't quote me though.. I've just watched a few videos that mentioned that.

Try sealkrete . It looks like milk you spray it on with a pump up garden sprayer probably want someone behind you catching bottom ledges bc its watery and you dont want to have any run bumps on undersides it dries clear it bonds to chaulky surfaces like glue. . It will come off your arms after a day or so . Ha . Its latex but that might save you some time on scrubbing. Js.

This house looks a lot better with the paint than with the original color. Paint seems to obscure a lot of the plasticky look of vinyl and makes the seams a lot less noticeable. But I've heard that painting vinyl a darker-than-original color runs the risk of warping it, especially if there is a lot of sun exposure. Maybe they've come up with paints that reflect infra-red rays, despite a darker-looking color. Do some brands of paint now guarantee the performance of a darker-than-original color?

No Name yes, you need to make sure that is a vinyl safe formula (no black tint added)

This project was $8000 and I think that it is worthy, changing the siding is expensive and it may involve more damage to other elements of the house
