The cooler and boat paint job are both freaking sweet! I'd probably go for the timber colors but that just has to do with personal preference and the type of hunting I do. Anyone can tell by looking at the finished product you've got the process down well enough. I watched a Mud Buddy promotional video once and they were spraying a motor in Optifade. They had a base coat and made a few random lines/spots with the colors from layer 2 w/o stencils. Then they used a hex stencil and a second stencil with random cutouts laid over top of the hex and sprayed layer 2 just making sure to use the alternating color when they went over the random lines. This would give a lil' variation in the color of the hexes but overall that looks killer. Already have a hex stencil. Will be trying this one for sure.

Nice work, did you have any issues with the stencil smearing paint at all when you lay it on top of the previously painted portions? I’m about to paint my boat, but am nervous about if the stencil will smear the paint when I overlay it to get the random patterns

Lightly sanded it and wiped it down with acetone. If I did it again I would use some adhesion promoter for plastics.

A mixture of both. The red leg stencils are big. They could be cut but in their original state they are big and hard to use on small things. For big things like my boat, they were perfect.
