Learning how to paint texture in watercolor is essential for wildlife art, as there's often bark or wood involved.
Invariably, your wildlife subject will be stood on a branch, or there will be some bark in the background, or even the foreground. Painting it to look authentic and realistic is important to the overall effect of your artwork. In this video, I take a detailed look at the many layers of detail that I apply to the piece of wood this Red Panda is leaning on. I use exactly the same techniques with any piece of wood, so they are really adaptable, and work well with many types of painting.

I'm loving these videos! My passion is realistic, detailed effects. Your channel is the only one I've found that really shows the techniques. Thank you so much for all the expertise you are offering us. I've looked through many of your videos trying to find one that speaks to how you see or choose the colors for a painting or a specific part of a painting. Do you have a video on this? Thanks again for this channel you've created. Its great!

I see Christie very kindly answered your question. To be honest with you, as long as you use a good quality paint from preferably a well known manufacturer, you shouldn't go wrong. Paul 🎨
