How to paint Treant | Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures/Wizkids | Boxes of Shame

In this episode I try to paint a the Treant from Wizkids Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures using Citadel Contrast Paints for the first time and I accidentally go full Bob Ross! :)

Well, this is indeed a masterpiece. You showed me some tricks I didn't know (in particular that about superglue and baking soda). I haven't tried contrast paints, but I agree with you in the comment above that probably they are better used for specific tasks/spots: keep experimenting and let us know. Please, alternate complex projects like this one with more simple stuff: remember that the beauty of this series is to inspire us folks to get through the bulk of our collections of unpainted minis!

Aww thanks! Yeah I am not entirely sold on Contrast paints being the solution to everything but I do like them and I think I will use them here and there as a basic paint for smaller details and such. Thanks again for the comment!

This was great! I am about to paint a Treant to use as WinterSplinter for the Curse of Strahd campaign, and was going to use the darker, almost decaying and dying appearance and saw your sand got heavily inspired. Thanks!!

I have seen these Treants done up as cherry blossom's with pink and white. I think having a mix of tree type's would be a good idea.

Your color work on this is beautiful, but your leaves come off as broccoli a bit. The one hanging over his face distracts from looking at his face.

Haha! I knoooow! :D I wish I would have made the crowns much more "see through", I think this is a weakness when using clump foliage like I did. One lives and learns! ;)
