Hi there, Liron here!
In today's vid I'll show you how I paint water drops in watercolor!
The key thing to remember is the water's reflective, transparent and "reversing" surface.

Loved what you said about familiarity with the painting can distort the way you see it, and to sleep on it. Someone I used to work with said that the "pixies" fix it while you're sleeping!

Haha so true! 😂 And it's even more true with oils, from what I heard. They change a bit as they go through the drying process.

Great demo as ever, there is no-one on KZbin as good as you at these watercolour tutorials. Familiarity blindness, this is a real problem. If I did it, I hardly ever think it’s as good as everyone else’s. There was a painting of an elephant I spent a whole day on, I was so frustrated that I threw it in a cupboard and later just left in a folder for over a year. Then I found it again and was so pleased with it I framed it and still have it on my wall. I have no idea now what I thought the problem was. Weird!

Wow thank you so much Alison! 😊🙏🏼 And I'm SO HAPPY to hear this! A very common experience. Even these days when I pull out a painting I disliked 5 YEARS AGO - I STILL find something I love about it (: Keep it up!

Wonderful tutorial on water drops. Thanks so much for painting in real time and having commentary as you paint, I appreciate it. I've worked on a painting and felt it wasn't looking the way I wanted and set it aside over night. The next day when I look at it I usually say, hey it looks pretty good after all, and am happy with it.

Mine too! I'll be all distressed working on a painting thinking it isn't turning out and when I look at it the next day I usually feel much better about it. I'm going to start thanking those fairies too! 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♂️💖

It was so interesting to watch how the shadow, which looked way too dark when wet, lightened up so beautifully when dry. I don’t think I will ever be able to confidently do this technique. I’m always so worried about going too dark to soon. Another great instructional video. Thank you!

Hey Liron. I finally got around to attempting these 2 today. The 3 drops were more challenging because I went way dark with the initial wash. The second one looks (how shall I say) not bad. Very happy I tried them both! It's a great exercise! Thanks!!

It’s the same for me when I take a picture of my art. In real life I’ll think it’s awful and then I take a picture of it and decide it’s actually really good. Or when I look at the picture I’ll see that a whole area of my sketch that I thought was good is actually wonky and needs to be redrawn.

Great video thank you my friend 🙏😘I actually have a tip for you!! That excites me, its a new feeling haha. I use the silicone pastel brushes to apply my masking fluid, I get really great fine tip when needed and the masking fluid doesn't ruin a brush. They also have a tool that works really good but usually I just use a silicone brush, makes my life easier :)

Ohhh that's a great idea! Thank you Angie! 😁🙏🏼 I actually have one and was wondering if it will work well. But because it's just one I was afraid to ruin it (it's also not thin enough). I'll get more and give it a go! I think another big plus would be the ease of removing it once it's dry on the brush, as there's no annoying hairs to scratch it out from!

Unfortunately, I can’t post a picture of the brush I used, but these are tiny eyeliner brushes. I think that I got from Amazon. I’ll try to send a link. I will wet the brush then I will run it over a sliver of soap, not too much, and it’s great for making really tiny dabs. Then I will rinse out the brush and I can get probably one or two more uses out of it. These brushes are inexpensive and not so precious that you can’t throw them away.

Do you know if there’s a latex-free alternative to masking fluid? I’m allergic and I haven’t been able to find one yet that has the same effect.
@BrendasArt
@BrendasArt 3 жыл бұрын
some people use masking tape. you kinda can cut them in the size and shape you want to cover. gentle with a sharp knife and not too deep else you damage the paper under it but I seen people using it without struggle. maybe you can find video's on KZbin of people using masking tape to mask out area's to get a idea.

I'm allergic, not terrible though. I just use an applicator and then remove it with tweezers or use a gentle eraser to get the edge peeled up. Also, wearing nitrile gloves when you remove it will help. They do have masking film as well, that might be something to consider.
