I came onto this lovely video by chance in the middle of the night (insomnia!) and found it fascinating, Malcolm! I wish I has seen it before I tried my earlier seascapes . I now look forward a lot to try again following your instructions and the sight anf sound of your video is so calming that I am even getting sleepy. Fascinating video! Thanks once more.

Hi Malcolm, and hello from Italy! First of all, Thank you for sharing your huge knowledge in such a humble, friendly, down to earth and generous way. I've had trouble finding a mentor with a style and vibes that feel good to me, and I'm hugely thankful I found you. I also find your tone and pace very relaxing, so it's all kinda therapeutic too for me! So, thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm pretty much a beginner, having mainly done a bunch of mini-painings (because they're less scary:-) like... 4"x2" sort of mini) in acrylics, never taken any lessons, and I'm not very confident at all. Also because I don't get a whole lot of time to sit down and get to it, to be honest. But also because I get bogged down trying to find my own style (while I'm still practicing on color mixing!)... details, or impressionist-style? I love impressionist-style but I always end up painting more in detail even if I don't want to, so I want to stop obsessing about details...maybe I should have a 2-meter long brush! For now I'm following your "How to add light to a landscape" on Udemy and I absolutely love it! I have a silly question here, but I get frustrated because it really interferes with my painting even as I'm learning... I have a few different brands of acrylics that I've accumulated here, and I was wondering whether you have any advice on brands for best consistency to work with, but also good pigment (I'm not sure we can do it here, would it be advertising..?) I'm finding it nearly impossible to use Liquitex as I find them too thick, almost sticky, even when adding some medium...while I'm finding the Galeria line from Winsor and Newton a lot better, but sometimes I wonder about pigment. Maybe Liquitex are better for someone more skilled? Can you give any advice on this? Very much appreciated, thank you!

Thank you Marina for your kind comments and questions. Since you are starting out as you say it is best to use a paint that is easy to work with. Galeria is good as you have discovered. Also Daler Rowney make very good student acrylics. For artist's quality try their Cryla range. As you are in Italy how about Maimeri's range. They are also very good. Just keep on painting :)

Wow! This is going to help me.so much. Breaking it into segments has got to help, but, I will have to alter my approach completely, particularly mixing the colours. This I have to try. I'm being too fussy about detail, and,I mess up! Thanks for not having rubbish back ground music that can be so distracting, and, no time lapse. Brilliant!
