Great tutorial, what ratio do you mix the GW paints when spraying them?
@HarleyAssi
@HarleyAssi 8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Henderson One can't really say that. All the colors react differently. Some colors go 1:1 some thicker, more opaque colors need like a 3:1 ratio. Its really just hit or miss. If your brush keeps clogging -> need more thiner.

It really depends on type of paint, air pressure, size of painting area etc. I never measure it but adjust it accordingly to needs. Milky consistency is a closest thing I could advice :)

Hey, great tutorial. Could I ask what you thin your 'ard coat with? Is it just water or thinner?
@HarleyAssi
@HarleyAssi 8 жыл бұрын
+sidpoole2k +James Silverio I can tell you that I use Valleyo Air Acrylics Medium on a 1:1 ratio. Sometimes I just use Water, it works too.

Please help. Does this work if sprayed directly onto stainless steel? Very smooth finished stainless? I can't find info on what paint is best. I'm planning to get started with airbrusing on some stainless 3d model... Thanks

how long do you wait after the last base coat before you start brushing with water?
@Malthus
@Malthus 9 жыл бұрын
Mario Montes You can start chipping ahead as soon as that coat is dry...so not long after when airbrushing. But you could wait as long as you like...because heavy chipping will always react to water...that is if you apply enough.

Hard-Edge Painting I tried it on some tanks, looks really cool
@HarleyAssi
@HarleyAssi 8 жыл бұрын
+Hard-Edge Painting My LFGS told me that the chipping fluid can only be activated for a certain amount of time. After a day or so it wont react with water anymore. Is that wrong? (Cuz if it is one better never forgetts to put another matt coat on the vehicles, not to wear of more color than intended due to touching while playing :-o )
@Malthus
@Malthus 8 жыл бұрын
Michael R. No, it's true. You need to act swiftly after applying fluid...also depends on how much fluid you added. And yes, varnishing is always a good idea.
@HarleyAssi
@HarleyAssi 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I did not realise how swift when I did a test piece yesterday. I was putting 3 layers of the medium (the lighter worn effect of the two) on my rust, dryed it with the hair dryer, then put 2-3 coats of the base tone on top, did a light wash.. couldn't have been more than a few minutes but when I took my wet brush, stuff was veeery hard to get off (and the wash was washed away). Not my best first experience here. Did I make a mistake here?

Ummm... yes? Of course they would. Do you think in 40K they would take tanks back in to the body shop after every scrape, bounced shell, Tyranid attack? In WWII any tank that saw battle and lasted 6+ months had rust all over them. The didn't pull them off of the front line for a paintjob! If they ran, they fought.

Okay all you're doing is adding loads of layers of different colours I don't see how... oh wait you're adding water with a brush, okay what's that going to do? *Shit that is actually a really cool trick!* Nice one.
