What is the difference between water color pens, and water color pencil?

That blotting the brush so you aren't using too much water is something I haven't seen in other artists' tutorials. Very helpful. As is the tip about dipping the white pencil into water to get stronger highlights. Thank you, Francoise.

This is building up to be an amazing series on watercolor pencils. Perhaps the best on KZbin? I think I've only seen a technique or 2 covered elsewhere that you haven't got...yet...and no one is going into as much depth on this medium. Thank you for your exploration...I can't wait to see where you take it next.

So glad you’re going to do more with watercolor pencils. When I decided I liked this medium, I bought the Faber-Castell pencils too. I would like to learn more about shading. Your apple demo about light was helpful. I would also like to see more landscapes with watercolor pencils. Thank you! 😊

YES great tips! I really need to try hot press paper with watercolor pencils… I’ve only used mine on cold press so far and love them, but I suppose their capacity for detail in hot press paper must be really satisfying to work with, as you did with this beautiful hummingbird! 😺
@paintingandchocolate Жыл бұрын
Yes I like it for that, although cold press is great too!

Thank you for your excellent informative video on the use of watercolor pencils. This video is one of the best ones I have seen. The tip on the use of less water is very helpful. Have you tried using Tombow or Zig colorless blenders? I have used both and they work great for certain techniques. The Tombow can just dissolve the pencil or can be pulled out. This is very useful for controlled painting. The Tombow goes on very dry so it can be used on coloring books without buckling the paper. I have used the Tombow blender to even out Neocolor II when it has gone on streaky. The zig blender acts more like a water brush but without water. I have found that using these blenders is a game changer for watercolor pencils especially for coloring books with thin paper.

I used similar blenders and I didn't like the outcome as much, maybe Tombow's works well and it makes sense about the coloring books. Thank you for sharing!

What is best for watercolour pencils hot pressed paper like you are using or cold pressed watercolour paper
@paintingandchocolate Жыл бұрын
I think it depends, for landscapes I personally prefer cold pressed (lots of wet in wet work), for this, hot press. I have a video on that, the one with the cherry picture.

What do you think of Renaissance watercolor pencils? I plan on buying them but couldn't find any review of it
@paintingandchocolate Жыл бұрын
I haven't tried them at all so I can't help you right now on that.
@Number4leadКүн бұрын
Watercolor pencils can be used to get that watercolor effect but with much more control. Especially when you want washes to be in more specific areas.

I have a question.. Can i use watercolor pencils as dry colored pencils.. Will it blend well without water??
@paintingandchocolate8 ай бұрын
Yes you can but then not too blunt and on good drawing paper.

Thick drawing paper like Strathmore 500 Bristol or similar

I don't know much, but it seemed to me that the last (the bottom) of the red and purple did not blend at all.
@paintingandchocolate Жыл бұрын
Not sure where this is, what I can add is those pencils are easily blended but you can also leave them unblended for added texture.
@locoyo386 Жыл бұрын
@Painting and Chocolate starts at the 5:50 mark and it goes to the 6:10 mark. You use the term blend. Or do you mean activate the color with water to create a smooth look within one color only. I am thinking you meant to blend two colors together. Either by creating a gradient look or completely blending them to create a third color.
@paintingandchocolate Жыл бұрын
Ah I see ! I thought you were talking about the bird 🙂 yes I meant activate plus blend both and yes the bottom doesnt blend that much because I avoid meddling in the area where both colors meet. Maybe wrong choice of term, I see now what you meant.

I can relate although even more expensive ones than BIC perform worse
