I have not done ropes in years, since I got certified at the fire department. These videos have helped me refresh on some skills and the simplest method. Most videos have some device or something we didn't have, so seeing these are awesome for me to refresh for my skills test

Happy to help. All of my videos have the beginner or occasional practitioner in mind. And it warms my heart when a fellow firefighter gets some value from my content.

These knot-passing videos are great. I live in terror of knot-passes, but I’m going to practice these methods.

Man I would love to spend like a month with you just learning how to do this stuff. I'm part of my local volunteer fire company and I love the sort of stuff but the rest of our company doesn't understand it nobody's really passionate about it so we don't do a lot of training on it. The downside is we've never had to use it on a call so it's never the priority for anyone to learn. I just love the technical side of it and how many cool things you can do with it. thanks for doing these videos

You sound exactly like me when I first started in the fire service. It can be frustrating when nobody else is interested like yourself but there is an opportunity there too as you can become the “rope guy”. So be that guy and doors will open for you. Interestingly, I made a ton more rope rescues as a volunteer than as a career firefighter even though I was part of the Rescue companies almost my entire career. So stay with it and learn as much as you can and thank you for allowing me to help you along.

@@nathanaelmcnaughton4054 I would rather keep my privacy, that's why I don't show my face. But I ran with a fairly large city in my career and several much smaller volunteer departments. The beauty of the smaller departments is that you can play a greater role in their specialized programs if you excel in them, whereas in the larger departments you play a smaller role and are limited to what occurs on your shift. Volunteers are on duty all of the time. Good luck!

I’ve noticed on your ratchet pulley you’re never using the prusik minding side of the plate. The angled side of the pulley plate needs to be up against your ratchet or progress capture prusik, you have the rounded portion of the pulley against the prusik. The sharp angled side of the plate is what makes that pulley prusik minding.

Good eye for detail but it really doesn't matter as the prusik minds regardless. I've never had an issue with these pulleys in any configuration in regards to the prusik loops. Cheers

It does matter as stated by the manufacturer rock exoticas product safety literature and correct use diagrams, and evident by the fact that there is a prusik minding version and a non prusik minding version, the only difference being the side plates. Manufacturer states using the non minding side with a prusik can allow the prusik to be sucked inbetween the plates causing the pulley to fail. Even if you’ve never personally had an issue the correct way should be taught, and is by every reputable trainer. @@perryfire3006
