Another reason to start by the part 5 is: you warm up and remember the “Cambridge expressions”, + YOU MIGHT FIND SOME ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONS IN PARTS 1-4 (!!!). By the latter reason i mean that in the texts 5-8 there might be target phrasal verbs / passive structures, etc. you have in parts 1-4 (💡)

Find the exact answer in the passage Cross-text multiple matching (matching info with a para) 1. Read the text quickly 2. Understand the questions carefully Gapped text (a long text with 6 para removed) 1. Last line of the previous and the first of the following para 2. Find keywords: pronouns, linking words,… Multiple matching 1. Synonyms (context)

Many thanks for your videos! I would recommend reading the missing paragraphs first at part 7. Then read the first paragraph and the second one (of the main text) and try to answer. This approach has appeared as a game changer for me.

Thanks! 🙂 I'm careful not to use words like skim and scan in relation to these exams... I recommend that the students first read the texts relatively quickly but at the same time absorbing the content and ideas of the articles. And then they should go back to look for the details to answer the questions.

I had this advice given to me for my czech exams but i believe it applies here too for question 5 read the questions first cause if you read the text and then read the questions then youll need to read the text again with the context of the questions, on the other hand if you read the questions first youll know what youre looking for from the start

I don't think there is an FCE vocabulary because from that level up, you need to learn vocabulary in general, not just a limited set of words.

Hi teacher I have trouble understanding this task and I don't know why. Two years ago I failed c1 exam I got a high mark in writing, listening & 8 in speaking except the reading task my mark was very low. Well... it's not typical, as you said. You have a lot of text to read in detail so it's surprising that you can do it all in less than an hour. I would recommend than you slow down to make sure you don't make any silly mistakes. What kind of score have you been getting in the practice tests?

I hate Cambridge test because it requires good memory. If you have it and know English it's ok but you could know English at a C1 level but still having a very hard time if, like me, you have memory problems. Still I'm trying the exam tomorrow... Whish me good memory!

Part 1 is part of the Reading exam (not the Use of English) 🤓

Yes. Officially, Cambridge marks part 1 as Reading (I've never understood why). But, for preparation and time management purposes, I recommend students treat it as Use of English. 🙂
