Today I'll be talking to you about how to pass your ace cpt personal trainer exam. To get started in the field you need to pass a base level personal training certification, and ACE's is one of the most respected in the industry.
In our opinion, ACE only does a so-so job at breaking down some of this material though.
(NOTE: we are not affiliated with ACE in anyway. Jeff is an ACE certified trainer though, and has many years of experience in the field.)

Jeff, you deserve an award for being so AWESOME! Your KZbin channel is the reason that I passed my ACE exam on the first try with flying colours. For those wondering, I started off completely new to exercise science. Before discovering Sorta Healthy, I read the entire ACE textbook (5th edition) and completed all the assignments, but struggled with some of the concepts. I turned to online resources and Facebook study groups, which only left me feeling overwhelmed and confused by conflicting information. Then I found Sorta Healthy, where Jeff breaks down complex topics in a straightforward and understandable way. No matter which certification you're pursuing, I highly recommend watching all the “how to pass” videos (both NASM and ACE) along with the anatomy content and take notes! When it’s time to take the exam, remember to take your time. Read each question carefully, and don’t hesitate to flag any you find challenging to revisit later. I completed my exam in 2.5 hours and still had 30 minutes to review my flagged questions. Thank you so much Jeff for all the hard work you put into your videos! Hey Jeff, I just wanted to say a big thank you for making these 2 videos. I did the most unadvisable thing, which was cramming the studying of the ace cpt exam to the last 2 weeks before the exam (100% not advisable) but by gods grace I somehow managed to pass the exam, and I have to attribute a huge part of my success in passing on these 2 videos(part 1 and 2) as they helped a TON. I watched both videos at least 3 times each, with the last time being the night before the exam. They helped ALOT with my revision. @@jswarmz well i bought previous month, but didn't did anything, i started preparation like a week ago, started chapter 1 but got bored of reading that big a$$ textbook, so only did this 2 videos 3-4 times both part 1 ad part 2, also study material was best, and 1-2 days before test i just gave practice tests, non proctored test, and did mcqs of sidebook they provided. Questions are similar type just give practice test over and over again and you pass

@@jeffbarbera6334 alot of the question are more like practical questions and program design and modifications. I had about 5-7questions with videos asking to observe and explain how to modify an exercise or progress it or which muscles are being overworked

@@jeffbarbera6334 also study on nutrition ,I had some math questions. Most often the test is basically applying the knowledge of what you learnt to answer the questions

Most of the questions were applications,where you use the knowledge of what you studied to answer the questions. I also got 5-7 video question on progressing and regressing an exercise and what muscle is overworked etc. There were a few math nutrition questions i.e calculating calories

What is chat GPT? Were the questions similar to the practice questions? How long did it take you to complete course/test

@@reana820 Chat GPT is an AI website. I would ask questions like "Explain the differences in postural deviations according to ACE Fitness" and it would give me a condensed breakdown. The questions were very similar to the practice tests and some of the questions came right from there. For my tests, I didn't get any questions from the final several chapters as Jeff said as well. I started studying in August and tried to study most days Monday through Friday. I read each chapter and highlighted the information I thought was important and put it in a notebook. I watched the videos breaking down important information in each domain and wrote that information down too and did the same with these videos and passed with a 660. If you have any experience working out - you'll be fine if you read the book and watch these videos.

Just passed ACE personal trainer exam on my first attempt. This video and part II were helpful along with the upper and lower body muscle anatomy videos. Most of the questions on the exam were situational. Lots of videos where you needed to be able to diagnosis the problem, make a recommendation or indicate which muscles were involved. Diffidently study the chapters of the book. Some real surprises on my test. Thanks Jeff

Hi! I absolutely need to thank you so much. I have never done anatomy or biology and I was a design major in college, teaching group fitness just happened upon me in the last couple years. Thanks for all of the helpful resources sir! i passed my exam this morning, physically and mentally exhausted lol, ya'll should watch part 1 and part 2 and also lower and upper antomy as well, i watched those at least 10 times, together with revising all the quizzes, and after i passed i still think that i didn't prepare enough...majority of questions about pick the most appropriate one (pick the least aggressive one) + experiments ques to narrow ur focus, keep in mind that its nowhere as easy as the quizzes, so dont be surprise and keep calm! U'll get through this!

These videos were helpful! The exam didn’t have a lot of the material but he helped me understand how ACE thinks and what sorts of questions would be asked. They are not straight forward, mostly what would be the best advice to give a client types of questions. Or what should you not say/do. I found these videos 3 weeks before my exam and they definitely helped me pass.

I recommend to everyone to watch these, and do the ace practice exams. The test mostly consisted of scope of practice, progression/regression/modifications, identifying which muscles are active, and a few legal things from chapter 16

@@SuperHoliday2011 Body Design University has a Facebook group that is extremely helpful. Doug Blake, one of the top guys at BDU, has chapter breakdowns on KZbin that are fantastic. I also paid for their ACE Prep package and found their study guide, Quizlet, and chapter quizzes to be helpful. Outside of that, know the topics mentioned in these videos, and then maybe a bit more detail. There are multiple tests so some of the topics in these videos might show up 5 times, others might not show up at all.

These videos have been very helpful! I took a ACE course 10 years ago at University of Maine and I remember after my first few classes leaving and asking myself "wtf was he talking about?" LOL! Had no idea what some of terms were, I was overwhelmed by the formulas, the size of the book - all of the things to remember. I've exercised for years but kind of did my own thing, worked out hard but never followed a program. Had no clue what eccentric-concentric meant. When I began to put on muscle and gain strength through Cory G Fitness' website & programs I wanted to learn more. I haven't put on my thinking caps like this in quite a long time! Outside of basketball lol. For real though, we appreciate all that you do with these videos. Hoping to pass my exam at some point this summer or early fall. Want to make sure I'm ready.

Hey guys, just took the test yesterday (8 Sept 2024) and this guide is still suuuuuper relevant and probably the only reason I passed the exam tbh. BUT my version of the test was SUUUPER heavy on assessments! Most common subjects for me, personally: Lordosis, kyphosis, APT Assessments Progression/regression Program building Elderly and pregnant modifications/guidelines
