After doing some research on Indeed, I’d say 50% of jobs especially in big box gyms don’t require a certification and it’s best to start there. If you can’t make it in those gyms, how can you make it in the specialized ones.

Great video my man, the information here was all worth studying and was way more specific than pocket prep that was just 1,000 questions of good information. I used pocket prep the first time, and failed. Came here, went over the info you provided, and passed easily. For the people using pocket prep, make sure you watch this video more than you use that app. It’s easy to memorize answers. But you really need to know the WHY. The exam doesn’t have any questions worded like pocket preps. They will give you a clients entire workout routine, v02 max, assessment numbers and then tell you the client wants to run a 10k, and what you should do to help them. Emphasize of FITT-vp and the part where he says always increase the TIME first. Thanks for the video again man. If I didn’t just spend $200 retaking the exam I’d donate to the channel. Maybe once I get that first client ;)

It’s only a little bit worse than a lot of the competition and at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter which one you go with. You’ll have no trouble getting a job when you’re done with it and that’s what most important.

ALL FITNESS CERTS ARE SCAMS AND MONEY GRABS (that don’t require previous education). The idea that you can condense a kinesiology/exercise science, nutrition, or any other health related degree down into 3 months to then be considered qualified is a joke. If qualified professionals are what people want, then you have to put years of work in to understand the material at a deep level. That’s not even mentioning the business side, which is often misleading and predatory as well in the fitness industry. What’s next, MD certifications instead of med school for treating hospital patients? Certs are the equivalent of money guru’s selling their courses, garbage!
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation 3 күн бұрын
The certifications aren’t as good as they should be, but a lot of what you’re saying is false. You need one of these certifications to get a personal training job. No reputable facility will hire you without one. Long story short, they’re not scams and they are necessary to get hired. They could and should be better though.

I appreciate the video but for Massage Therapy you're grossly underestimating how we "don't need to know"
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation

What specifically am I underestimating?
@adas.985
@adas.985 4 күн бұрын
@@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation A lot of the information you said we "don't need to know" is required for the liscence exam for MT's called the MBLEX. They most likely won't ask you directly but you need to know this things in order to apply it clinically. Everything correlates. If you know there's sesamoid bones and their shape you'll figure out they might be talking about the knee. Parts of the sacrum, sternum and ribs are attachment points you'll need to know in order to figure out the kinesiology side of things. Do you need to know all parts of it, like you said during the hand part? No but you do need to know the major parts of it, their origins and insertions along with all the movements they make; their antagonist or synergist muscles too.
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation 4 күн бұрын
@@adas.985 I’ve worked as a massage therapist for many years and have helped many therapists pass the MBLEX. I appreciate having your feedback and opinion, and agree that knowing basic anatomy is important. That said, you really don’t need to much more than the basics to pass the test and be successful. Sure, knowing more advanced things can be helpful, but it really depends on what type of work you’re planning on doing in the field.

I worked for LA Fitness and Blink Fitness (both are owned by Equinox), and let me tell you, they were a joke. I didn't earn money working for them, if anything I lost money. Not to mention the people who work for these companies at the corporate level do not care about the success of their clients, nor do they care about whether or not the people working for them make a profit. Unless you really need the experience, avoid these sorts of companies like the plague! Also, bear in mind that you'll very likely need to get a second or even third job.

I never thanked you for this, so thank you for all the NASM and PT business content. I binged your videos a lot in the latter half of 2023 and the first few months of 2024. Failed my NASM first attempt by 2 points and then passed the second attempt. Now I’ve got my brand identity set up and am training my first client as an independent trainer. He’s lost 20lbs so far in 2 months and is very happy, and I’m happy for him. So again, thank you. You helped so much!

Question: I work at a local gym part-time as a personal trainer and nutritionist. I want to start my own online Health and Fitness business. I am older PT and want to share what I've learned as a trainer to help older clients wanting to look and feel better as they grow older. What is the best way to use Social Media for an online business?

@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation 5 күн бұрын
Ya they have recently raised their prices. When they run a sale, which is fairly often, the price goes down a bit and it’s closer to the $600-700 range. Other certification companies do offer cheaper alternatives as well.

Honestly I'm not sure how folks decide to switch career paths randomly and try out personal trainer. For me I shifted my entire lifestyle and lost 100 pounds in about 1 years and gained a decent amount of muscle. About my 4-5 month in the gym, I decided that I wanted to become a certified personal trainer. I wanted to let folks know who were like me the majority of their life (as a 10 year old elementary student I weighed 300 pounds) that you can lose the weight.

I spend the $ and use it for my in person clients as well. It helps reduce anxiety when they can preview what exercises they will be doing that day AND if for some reason they can’t make their session they can still get their workout done since they have access to app. I do agree that checks in would be better if the client could fill out a form through Trainerize app.

I’ve been a trainer for over a span of 15 almost 16 years. I feel sub-human at this point. I’ve taken 1 vacation since 2016. It is now 2024. Being a trainer is by far one of the worst careers someone can have. It’s trading time for money, and you have to work harder, not smarter. You work off commission, so when you don’t work, you don’t get paid. Most live paycheck to paycheck because the pay is so inconsistent. In a matter of a week, you can have 1 client cancel, 2 clients go on vacation, and 1 client quit training. Then boom, you’re out hundreds of dollars and you cannot pay rent. I am trapped into this career field and I’ve written over 10,000 workouts for people. If I have to write another workout my eyes are going to bleed. Please help me get out of this groundhog’s day daily burnout hell.
