Thank you for this video!! I am a Mexican OT/PT, in two weeks time I will take the test. I have been preparing for a year (there are no CHT’s in Mexico…yet) and everything you said has reassured me. I will give my best shot.🙏🏻🙏🏻

Congratulations!!! Such a great accomplishment!! 😊I am starting my studying journey towards the CHT currently. I was thinking of taking the ASHT prep course this fall but they are offering it virtually. Do you feel like this is a course better suited to be completed in person? Thanks for your help! I am finding your videos very helpful 😊

Thank you so much!!! Congrats; it’s such a huge step to commit to taking the exam. I loved the ASHT course! It was genuinely all lecture based, and I’m not sure exactly how they’re presenting the material for a virtual course, but I do think it would be fine online as well. It’s a long course, so to me that would be the only challenge of taking it online (id have trouble focusing that long on my own but hopefully they’re offering it in short bursts)

I’m not sure what the question is asking? This video is referring to the Certified Hand Therapist exam

I bought the 2 volume set and like yourself, I thought I could read it cover to cover. I also thought it was boring. I spent a lot of money buying 2 orthotic fabrication books, 2 hand and upper hand rehabilitation books, and the latest 4th edition purple book. Quick question, what have you found to be effective and noticeable method to reduce swelling? I’ve used ice pack for patients post Tx, but could not tell the difference. Eventually I paid out of pocket to become a Certified lymphedema therapist. And patients saw a noticeable decrease in swelling.

I have a hard time reading textbooks, for sure!! Yes, it costs a lot of money to collect all these resources. taking the CHT exam is no cheap feat! I bet being CLT is so helpful in reducing swelling. I think the combination of elevation, movement, and possibly light compression (if appropriate) seem to be the most helpful. I'm not a CLT but I can imagine that helps a ton!

Hey Kelly thank you so much for the video. From your experience, does the exam test on specific peer reviewed journals featured in the journal of hand therapy?

Not from my experience! Great question!!

:-) From the trauma of taking the exam" - that is cute! I can imagine it is torture- not only is it hard material but if it is like other tests I have taken instead of just being straight forward they try to confuse you with silly stuff

I can imagine! I’ve started studying it for myself, or I guess more accurately, have started collecting the books to study on my shelf haha! They’ve become “shelf-help” as opposed to self help lol! I have the 2nd version of the purple book. Do you think it would be of benefit for me to go ahead and purchase the newest version of the purple book? It’s just super pricey but I will do it if it would be of greater value than the other previous versions. Thanks for your help and your wonderful videos!

Honestly I used an older version, I had the 3rd edition and they came out with the 4th edition like 3 months after I bought it, lol. My friend let me borrow her 4th edition and I went through it once, and most of the book was pretty much the same, but the newer edition had a couple of extra chapters and a few different questions. I think that you could definitely use an older edition and just make sure you go through the HTCC blueprint to ensure you aren’t missing anything to supplement your knowledge!
