Hello, I am Billy and I come from Belgium. I have a question for you, I have had a trigger thumb for a few weeks and last week I got a cortisone injection from the family doctor, the pain is almost completely gone but the tip of my thumb usually still jumps even though I wear a brace almost day and night! I started doing the exercises you gave me last week. Can you tell me approximately how many weeks or months I should do them and whether I would cure my trigger thumb with this? Kind regards Billy😶

I had surgery 3 months ago and I've had OT for 2 months I cannot supinate very well and my OT says he hasn't seen a case this complicated. The surgery went excellently. The hammer is very difficult for me because I have such small hands I use a weight lifters glove to stop the pain of the hammer pressing against the pad of my index finger and the thumb. It feels like it could cause a wound it hurts so much against the bone. I barely can have it go 5° and it's hard to keep a tight fist because my pinky and ring finger want to let go because my hand is so small please help me do I have time for it to get better

I’m so glad I came across your videos as they have been really helpful. I hadn’t realised just how debilitating trigger thumb can be but am hoping your stretches and therapies will help. Thank you PS I did smile though when you said give this video a thumbs up… as that’s a bit difficult with a trigger thumb! 😅

What are your thoughts on "massaging" the TFCC area to free up adhesions and restore some pain free ROM? Who does it tend to work for, if at all, in your experience?

Hi I had a left radius fracture on September 10th. Your towel exercise is very helpful, could please suggest for stiff knuckles, and to make a fist rather than going through painful pushing at the physiotherapy . your plant is freash and rejuvenating.Thanks

This taping method does offer some relief although my thumb is now kinda locked in one position. I can bend it forward but not back (unless I gently force it). It started out popping and locking forward but now I fear the tendon is stiff to the point of no return to normal use. Will this ever heal? I definitely think it's RSI related. Splinting and taping does offer relief though, esp at night and whilst working and your video was helpful. Thanks

I'm in the phase now where I can't do dumbbell lateral raises or cable lateral raises. As a work around, I found is there's a lateral raise machine where you put the pad under your elbow so you have a bent elbow and that has worked really great for lateral raises. Also I can't do upright rows but they don't necessarily feel the greatest anyway. Lightweight reverse wrist curls have seemed to help rehabilitate the issue. I used to not be able to do dumbbell rows but now I can go heavy on that. So there is hope, it does get better over time.

it is awful how surgeons don't advise on scar treatment and just leave you alone to find out what the rest of the world seem to already know.

What's the approach when there also appears to be some kind of bursitis in the same flared up wrist area? Is it treated by an MD or physio?
@ForwardTherapy
@ForwardTherapy 19 күн бұрын
Bursitis is not usually something therapy has tons of ways to help with, other than helping with pain and swelling management, activity modification, and gentle stretching!

Never had any thumb pain in my life. Then I got a really bad strep throat infection that moved to my ear. Many of my muscles and joints hurt but as it cleared up, it was only my index fingers and thumbs that started to hurt and click. It's been over three months now, fingers are fine but both thumbs have multiple clicks and are getting worse daily. My thumbs click on passive motion too. I've been wearing oval 8 splints but it seems to make them even worse with the stiffness. I guess I'll try the stretching. Thanks for the video.

can I do this while having external fixation on mid of my humerus doctor says ok to phisical therapy it's been 6 months since surgery
@MAR19980
@MAR19980 24 күн бұрын
Also, does the humerus have a relationship with the movement of the elbow joint? Does external fixation hinder elbow rotation?because thats what I feel i can rotate to a point but then humerus needs to roll to which i think not possible
@ForwardTherapy
@ForwardTherapy 19 күн бұрын
The humerus is the bone of the upper arm, it articulates with the lower arm to form the elbow. Usually the stiffness is due to prolonged immobilization and not using the arm normally for a period of time, which causes significant stiffness at the elbow joint. But if the external or internal fixation is not crossing the elbow joint, it does not have direct effect on stiffness of the elbow. But it's a super common complication!

OMG NO WAY!! You just said the elbow. Wow I can’t even believe I just heard this. I was in a MVA and I have horrible severe chronic pain literally daily all day long and supposedly I tore my TFCC. But I heart from just above the elbow all the way down to the tips of my fingers. So both elbows, both arms, both hands top/bottom and both sides, thumbs, all eight fingers, both wrists and all 10 doctors told me that it can’t be from the TFCC. My life is ruined and destroyed from this accident. I cannot get the help I need. It’s absolutely disgusting. You’re amazing thank you so much for this video ❤

I have worn one on my trigger thumb for several weeks. It helps but I have questions. Should it be worn all the time? When should one stop wearing it ? Is it a permanent thing? I worry that wearing it too long will stiffen my thumb permanently causing another problem.
@ForwardTherapy
@ForwardTherapy 27 күн бұрын
It can come with complications of stiffness for sure! Anytime we immobilize a joint for a prolonged period stiffness can occur. I recommend stretching multiple times a day while you have to wear the splint to help prevent stiffness. I recommend wearing the brace 4-6 weeks then testing the trigger and if it still catches you may need to continue bracing or follow up with your doctor
