I bought a car with cash on December 31st. I first looked it up on the dealer's website. It was the right price for me. Took a test drive. The salesman said it would cost $10,000...FIRM. I asked for his best price. He wouldn't lower it even $50. I then said I saw it on their website for $8,000. His demenor changed in one second. I caught him! By law he had to sell me the car at the advertized price. He was inwardly furious. There went his comission. Well, well. The dumb broad out smarted the used car salesman. I saved $2,000 on my car. It sure paid to do my homework.

A friendly word of advice from a mechanic's daughter. Don't hang all those keys from your ignition. It will cause the ignition to wear out much faster from the extra weight weighing it down. Contrats on the new car!!!

We totally did the Dave Ramsey thing and walked into a dealership with $3000 and got a barely used minivan for our family for that much. It was worth at least $5000 if not more like $7000 from what we'd seen listed. Walking in with cash in hand and then walking out like you need to "think about it for a while"-totally worked!!

That's awesome! I heard you say Dave Ramsey & got the biggest smile and started laughing. I'm currently driving my paid off car that is now worth *maybe* $800. I'm either gonna drive it til the wheels fall off or til it needs a more expensive repair than I want to pay for. I love these stories & knowing I'm not the only "weird" person out there. Congrats on the new-to-you car 👍

Congrats! We bought my hubby a used car (paid cash!) this past week also. Our only debt was his Jeep which we sold so we could be debt free and he's been using his sisters extra car (the one that all 4 of our nieces and nephew's learned to drive in so you can imagine lol). My stepmoms coworker was selling a car, an '04 Mitsubishi Galant with 120,000ish miles for $1,000. Since she was a friend and coworker of my stepmom she sold it to us for $880! Huge huge blessing! It's been a great cash buying car week!!

I'm thrilled for you! It's as if it was me getting a car. Congratulations! I wanted to put this memo out there though for anyone watching- I used to sell cars for a few years and my husband now is a general manager of a dealership. The place you got your car had an incredibly high mark up on the price so they could afford to do that. A lot of places do as well, but not all and not every car. I just don't want anyone to think that cash is the magic word and any dealer with any car will be able to do that. A lot of factors go into it. Anyways, enough of this buzzkill. I really am so happy for you and you are very inspiring. I started emblems ting sinking funds after I found your channel. So thanks for putting it all out there for us! Xoxo

good for you. hey you need to put your car key and clicker on a seperate key chain; those heavy key will damage the ignition switch
@JavaFirst9 жыл бұрын
+Tana S Hey everyone who said this thanks for the tip. I don't have a heavy key chain but the info is really good to know. Hubs keeps his car key and house key on one key ring and everything else on another. I think it is a good idea as those are the two most used keys we all use I think.

And what a blessing to see the Lord work! We got a new "for us" van. We got heated seats, btw, never get those buying a new car!! My behind has never been cozier. Paid cash and now looking for hubby's car with cash. Hope that both cars dying at same time never happens again. But saving for that day anyway :)

Cash cars all the way here! I bought a 2002 P.T. Cruiser for $3,500 with a custom paint job.. loved it. However someone decided to run a stop sign into a major highway and hit me. However when it was totalled out I didn't get the value I should of. Considering they gave me average cost on them for sale in my area..there weren't any..Lol. So I bought a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix with 150,000 miles on it for $1,800 (that included TTL- it was $1,550 just for the car) in January of 2013. I still have it!! We've only replaced one $54 hose and done basic car maintence.. and will have to get the ac repaired for next summer..other than that..a great car.

I do a little different budgeting since I do not have any other debt than my mortgage but I have somethings I need to upgrade for pretty soon I use a debt snowball system for savings instead of paying hard down on my mortgage and suddenly I am in debt cause I need to pay out this and that. Even with this saving goals I will be out of my mortgang 15 years before it's do. Thanks for the inspiring videos. Learned a lot

I am so happy for you and your car purchase!! We are about to buy a second car and it will be with cash but not with the green stuff. The budget for it is a bit higher and I can't see going to the bank and pulling out that kind of money. We'll write a check or use the debit card, however they want it and call it a day. It's still cash. Where we live it is just too busy on the roads to do that extra running around. I wouldn't want to pull it out ahead of time before car shopping and I wouldn't want to have to run to the bank after knowing what we're getting just to run back either. Or if we pulled the money first and didn't find a car to buy, we'd have to go back to the bank to redeposit it. It'd just be silly and a lot of running around and wasting gas for nothing. This will be our third car paid for in cash and it's definitely awesome to not worry about that car payment! I am always super paranoid about repairs for a good bit after purchasing a new (to us) car though. Car repairs are so frustrating!

It was listed at 17,500 and I came in with 12,500 and walked out with a car! Once I talked them down to the 12500 they were like "ok, then we add tax, tag, etc..." Nope.... I have 12500, you take that or I go somewhere else. I think they were just happy to get rid of me! lol. xo
