There is a video on KZbin asking why barbers are losing money currently in the UK. Apart from cost of living, do you think it's because barbers are showing everyone how to cut hair for free and barbers are more generic than fast food outlets these days.

No, i would say it has more to do with the saturation of barbers since the industry blew up. It's the same problem personal trainers, tattoists and beauticians are facing. The trade has become popular so an influx of people have started to train, and in the desperation to gain customers the barbers lower their prices. That means that the newer barbers are all left fighting for customers in a price war. Not to mention, in the UK there is no licencing for barbering which means that anyone can open a shop, in most towns in the UK you'll find alot of barbershops even on the same street and next door to each other. The problem is not just an influx of barbers, its the quantity of shops that open due to it being so easy.

Barbers in the U.S are balling. I would think it would be the same in the UK. I get a haircut every week and I know tons of others who do the same or at most bi weekly. Is it the same in UK?
