I haven't seen those in a long time. My dad grew tem when we lived in Alabama and Georgia I He always said if you the best boiled peanut boil them as soon as the stalk and leaves are dry and the best parched or roasted is when peanuts are completely dry then roast in shell to keep from burning or overcooking the roasted peanuts. I love them better roasted. He lived them better boiled. I enjoyed watching this, brought back wonderful memories.

Roasted peanut fan here. Sad, I can't have brittle, have to be careful with molar crowns, UGH. So, we make easy to chew treats--peanut logs (similar to a Pay Day bar)--peanut clusters (dark chocolate covered is good), and we add finely chopped roasted peanuts to peanut butter cookies--chopped in peanut butter fudge--tossed in spicy Chinese stir fried chicken and vegetables--and, just salted peanuts by themselves (or, actually with beer for him, and apple cider for me).

If the skins come off, will they take all the salt with them? Thank you for sharing. What type of peanut do you grow, please.
@BumbleBeeJunction4 жыл бұрын
The salt really will not stick to the skins... The salt is still in there as they are tossed and gets to the "un skinned" peanuts as they fall off... And I really could not say on the variety... We have an old time farm / feed store near here that sells them as just "peanuts" in an open bin, and you buy them by the scoop... LOL I can ask next spring when we buy more and see if the store people happen to know, or have the original bags to check...

In my opinion, salt ruins the flavor of peanuts! When I see bags of peanuts in their shells, I always look for unsalted ones, but most places don't sell them, around here, anyway. Can you eat raw peanuts? Just wondering, because most nuts don't need to be roasted, do they?
@BumbleBeeJunction4 жыл бұрын
Most true nuts grow on trees... The peanut is more akin to a bean or pea... Raw, they taste much like a soybean with only a hint of the peanut flavor, and they are soft until cured / dried...
