HOW TO PERFORM THE U.S. ARMY INDIVIDUAL WEAPONS QUALIFICATION (IWQ) - 7 POG HHC

A U.S. Army specialist runs down how to perform the U.S. Army Individual Weapons Qualification, or IWQ, during video demonstrations of the event.
Keep in mind this is the IWQ standard operating procedure as of July 2022.
I do not claim to be an expert in this subject matter. If I am incorrect, please let me know in the comments. I purely wish to help soldiers prepare for their qualifications.

Anyone has a chart or a something showing were to aim for each individual target ?

Man how it’s changed from when I had to qualify. There was no supported position with a barricade. It was the first three standing , kneeling (little soft pocket behind your elbow of your non dominant hand and would rest on your knee cap it) then prone. Our support was the magazine and us holding the weapon properly.

Also no optic. Just iron sights. Glad to see they switched it up a bit.

Still not much different than I was trained with in 1982. A CMP Garand match is more challenging and most CMP shooters even with antique M1 would easily hit expert. Sad but US Army still has such low standards

Can u use ACOG 4x in this kind of qualifications ? Like can u decide ur accessories on your weapon ？

The weapon accessories depend on your unit. Some may run iron sights but majority of units will use the CCO.

You can use RCOs if your unit allows.

How do you get a good qualification in this? With the time u spend, with the shots u missed, with the ammunition that had to be used?

There are 40 targets. Soldiers must hit at least 23-29 out of 40 targets to qualify, earning the marksman badge. A score of 30-35 out of 40 targets will give the sharpshooter badge. The best scores are the 36-40 out of 40 targets to earn the expert badge. Hope this helps.

Is this qualification timed?

No. However, each target will be up for a predetermined amount of time. And the Range Safety Officers will call a cease fire by the end of the qualification where every soldier should be finished by.

@@indocisco Each set of targets have different times. Some sets of 4 targets may last a total of 19 seconds whereas others may last 14 seconds depending on the number of targets present and the range. Somw targets may only be up for 5 seconds. Specific times are posted in the documents cited in the video. The total rough runtime for the whole qualification may be 4 minutes or more.

"Automatically reload" Damn I only know how to manually reload.

Some soldiers wait for the command to reload from the tower. "Automatically reload" implies to do it immediately following your spent magazine without instruction. Hope this clears it up.
