Good job explaining the nuts and bolts in the process! Many GC/prefab companies won't even mentions those steps and associated fees. One reminder, starting from 2020, photovoltaic, in many counties, is deferred but mandatory drawing for permit approval. So don't forget to get a PV trade to do the drawing too.

This video was EXCELLENT! Thank you for sharing such detailed info about all the tiny home permitting steps, what’s involved with each step, the cost, the amount of time it takes, and even the order and timing one should consider to help things go more smoothly. It’s been pretty rare, in my experience, to see videos with this much solid content, delivered with no fluff! But plenty of fun humor and b-roll/funny photos. The icing on cake was how do-able you made even such a complex process seem for newbies, and the encouragement you give, explaining that it gets easier with each tiny house one gets under one’s belt. Your channel deserves to be growing as fast as it is!

Why abnb when la has a huge housing crisis and people want places to rent or buy at affordable pricing? And Airbnb screws up the renting and housing prices and takes land and building off the market which aren’t used most of the time and overall hurt the market

In the Philippines there is no zoning code especially in rural areas. You can just buy a piece of land and build whatever you like. There's no hassle at all and it's not over overregulated. We built our house without getting a permit to build..we dug the ground for water well since our house is on the river bank . It is easy as that....it's interesting that everything here in California has to be regulated from weeds, plants, around your house and what you can have and can't have. We only pay a little tax for the land like every 10 years or so..and the home or house has no yearly tax. You can even have many animals around the house as many as you want.. unlike here it's like 5 chicken per 1/2 acre or other small animals or 1 horse per 1/2 acre..that's surprising to me...we don't have to pay for the water or anything except for the electricity. Here it's like you're gonna be broke before you even start a project if you dont have enough money.
@swatisquantum Жыл бұрын
That’s the point. They created a moat around the new construction industry so only the rich can build and not the mom and pop owners. They make it hard for the small owner builders so that you pay into their pyramid scheme.

Overall you did a great job on the nitty gritty of front end costs. Most people have no idea of how much you have to spend before lumber and materials are delivered - especially in Calif. Did I miss something, or did you forget to mention sewer or septic hookups? You also should mention wild-fire issues that affect code requirements in many counties.

Bro, I have a question. What if I purchase a Tuff shed and convert that into a tiny home? They’re able to pull the permits and legally build the structure on my property. But I’d just have to get all the other work done (electrical, plumbing, etc.). Have you ever though about doing it this way? Do you think it’s a feasible idea?

One quick tip! If you’re going to buy land, or even build on your own land and don’t already have a property close by, it’s important to look into environmental factors! This is not just potential for natural disasters. I’m talking making sure it’s not protected land or that there are protected species nearby.
