I absolutely love puffins. They look hand painted and so cartoon like. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.

This was very cool. Thank you for all the extra details and graphics about where you were going. Showing the names of all the different birds was really helpful too!🌱❤

Looks like my 70-200 just won't cut it here 😔 . Might just hang until next year and take a run out to Lunga where you can get a lot closer to the puffins. Absolutely amazing shots sir 👍👍👍

Thanks for the comment man. Yeah even at 600 I wanted more so went for the teleconverter to get more reach. Lunga would be a hell of a trip. 🤙🏼

Thanks. May Island is better than Staple Island for photograph ?
@AndrewMacdonaldPhotography2 жыл бұрын
I have never been to Staple island so I am not sure
@davidguedj44892 жыл бұрын
Excellent, how many time you can stay on the Ilse of May ?
@AndrewMacdonaldPhotography2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, you can only be on the island at high tide. The boat trips are timed to arrive and depart giving you about 2.5 to 3 hours on the island

Which lens you recommend for this place?
@AndrewMacdonaldPhotography Жыл бұрын
Hey man. I’ve used both the 100-400 and the 200-600 here. You might want that extra reach of the 600 as they are surprisingly small birds

@@AndrewMacdonaldPhotography I will get a 300mm f2.8 with 2x teleconverter and see how it works for me thanks for the information and recommendations

Hi, I'm visiting the island in 2 weeks time but only have a 70-200 Sony E mount. Do you think the trip will still be worth my while with that lens? Really hoped to get some pics of the puffins :-)
@AndrewMacdonaldPhotography2 жыл бұрын
Hi there. You will still be able to get lots of photos of the puffins, perhaps not as close up as you might like but you can get quite close to them so I’m sure it will be great. Where are you coming from? If you are concerned you could look into renting the 200-600 lens or a 1.4x teleconverter.
@irenepurdie80822 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewMacdonaldPhotography Thank you so much for your reply. I'm actually only coming from Glasgow but staying in Fife for a few days with the main purpose to visit the island. I had thought about the converter or renting and may still look into it. Reassuring to know though that I should get some pics even it means cropping during the edit stage. I appreciate your help and thanks for the video, very useful to give people an insight of what to expect when they get there

@@AndrewMacdonaldPhotography Most definitely! I do recall going on a whale watching tour once. We found no whales but the captain took us to see Puffins as a consultation prize (it was not). I recall asking my girlfriend at the time, "what the f*ck is a puffin?" Still makes me laugh to this day.
