Jacinda Adern came in 7 weeks before the first election she won. But her party didn’t undermine her by offering up options, starting a whole process, and conflict. Opening up a whole lot of choices at this stage is just going to undermine Kamala, the threat is authoritarianism. America’s whole democratic system is the problem, keep Kamala, keep democracy - then get to work on fixing your broken country!!

your point? Remember the democrats have super delegates that enforce their choice no matter who the voters vote for anyway, so a vote is not democratic in their conference.
@sandal_thong86315 ай бұрын
6:36 Why did he say that? I just looked up the 1960 Democratic National Convention on Wikipedia and you're correct. (I remember reading it was the conventions in 1920 that had 44 ballots for Democratic, 11 for Republican.) What may be relevant is the idea that no one ran in nation-wide primaries (Kennedy competed in 10). Kennedy debated Humphrey on TV in West Virginia, and after being defeated in the primary there, he dropped out. It said the week before the convention Lyndon Johnson and Adlai Stevenson II announced their candidacies. Johnson challenged Kennedy to a debate before the Texas and Massachusetts delegations, Kennedy was considered the winner, and Johnson couldn't get delegate support beyond the South. Kennedy then won a majority on the first ballot which was held the third day of the convention. So if someone were to challenge Kamala Harris, then they could have a debate before the convention and delegates could make their decision similarly.

@Mikearice15 ай бұрын
For most of the country's history, up to the 70's , conventions decided who the candidates were behind closed doors. It's the same people voting "elected democrats" either way, actually. The public isn't voting at the convention, and never has so you can't say it's more or less democratic. The difference with an open primary isn't that everything is all pre-decided, it's that the process is public -- which can actually make it harder for delegates to speak out at times, and which also makes a potentially healthy process of selection more of a liability just because people see it going on and then criticize the lack of unity.

Why so much hand wringing? There is already a process in place. The delegates will come to the convention and place their votes on behalf of their constituents. Such a non issue.

This is the handiwork of Hollywood, corporate media, maga and the Washington DC lefty democrats bullied Biden out and off the ticket. This is 2016 all over again the democrats split their votes between Clinton and Bernie and trump won in 2016 . Bernie refused to support Clinton and continued to campaign. That did in the democrats and trump won. Kamala had to withdraw in 2020 because she was in last place. So the democrats have her run in place of Biden 😳😳 only way democrats beat trump is pick Mark Kelly as VP he is astronaut, ex-miltary and a centrist democrat. AOC put out a video , stating the same voices that wanted Biden replaced, want Kamala replaced. They want the whole Biden/Harris ticket to be replaced. This makes democrats looks weak and unorganized.
