You are never *more right* about choosing too famous material ie Scarlett's monologue (gone with the wind). I've known casting execs who FROWN on this also. Even my local (LA & NY trained) acting coaches and professors say, Do Not Do it. One actor attempted Stanley Kowalski and flopped bc he tried to "be" Marlon Brando. The same as a random singer *trying* to be Madonna or Arianna. You put your own self into an obscure character monologue, or don't bother.

🤦🏻‍♀️ you’re not literally going in a room to do an audition against one of the “big-name people“… You’re picking some thing where you can SHOW your acting skills. To make some thing believable. As long as people do it WELL, it doesn’t matter what they pick. It’s kind of crazy how against picking any monologues that happen to be popular, because they aren’t looking for “new or unseen monologues“… They’re looking for TALENT and SKILL
