I lived in Wisconsin my whole life, from a farm outside of a small town, to Madison in my 20s, and now Milwaukee and I'd like to add a couple of things. So as a beer craft aficionado you can make fun of Spotted Cow a little bit and call it an okay beer, because it is. Wisconsin has close to 200 craft breweries, and many of them make better beer and I wish they got a bit more love from visitors. With that being said though, New Glarus Brewing does make some bangers like Fat Squirrel and Moon Man and their owners are amazing people who threat their own employees extremely well. There's more to Wisconsin than Milwaukee and Door County for sure. I've always considered the Coulee Region/Driftless Area one of the most underrated parts in the country. The scenery is so beautiful. And Madison is a really cool mid level city to visit too, and their Capitol Square farmers market is one of the best in the country imo and there's always something interesting to do there. I'd also add that if you're visiting anywhere in Wisconsin, don't be shy to strangers sitting next to you. Most people are welcoming and friendly, especially at bars. So if you want to piss off Wisconsinite, being closed off and unfriendly would do it. Also Mark, congrads on your weight loss. It's really showing and keep up the good work.

@matthewnyberg3151Ай бұрын
This depends on the area of Wisconsin. If you are in the lakes area of western Wisconsin you may hear "mud duck" for Minnesotan, but as a MN born WI resident, I'd say Minnesotans are much more accepted in anything besides maybe sports teams (because the Vikings have actually been competitive in recent memory)

I don't often find myself needing to stop for gas on a road trip and buy some clothes or a lot of the other things they have at the same time. Love's usually has everything I might need while on the road and is much more common.

Not nearly as common, but one my grandma did which got her some funny looks. Absolutely do not ask for margarine instead of butter. They see it as an insult to the hard working diary farmers. It's actually illegal to have margarine served with food in the state of Wisconsin unless a customer specifically asks for it. If you want some sort of dairy substitute because you have an allergy, just let your server know and they'll be happy to accommodate you.

Here's the deal with so many Vikings fans in the Western/Northwestern part of the state (even the South Shore surprisingly)...it all has to do with which team is being televised on cable...that part of the state, if the Packers and Vikings are playing different games at the same time, the Vikings game is being shown via their cable. It basically goes from La Crosse to Menomonie to Ashland. Anything else, the Packers are being shown. So there is a reason for so many Queens fans over there. But now with streaming and whatnot, there isn't an excuse :)

1. Cubs fans! Even real Cubs fans can't stand Cubs "fans." 2. Vocab: Ope. Yah/no. Ah geez cripes almighty! 3. Hunting season is practically a way of life. Deer Season, there are schools that actually close the entire time as most of the students will NOT be there. 4. Da Bears...it's not as much of a rivalry as it used to be. That's now the Viqueens, as they're called. 4.5. The reason there are Viking and Twins fans in the NW part of the state is because Wisconsin is a larger state than most think. Those who are closer to the Cities, may often be fans of those two teams. And actually many hockey fans throughout the state are also fans of the North Stars (eh..Wild...what a stupid name) as all things Chicago are, for the most part, Verboten! Plus it's because of the Chickenhawks that we can't get a NHL team. 5. The reason the accent is such that it is around the Milwaukee Area, is thanks to the German immigrants. Though there is a Northside and Southside accent, but the most pronounced, Cudahy or South Milwaukee. THAT is because of the Polish immigrants.
