Thanks for watching the first video in our houseboat camping series! We’re excited to share and learn from others in this area. Anyone out there new to houseboating, planning their first trip to a beach with a houseboat, and frustrated with planning logistics? Where may you be stuck that we can help? Any seasoned houseboaters out there have any other tips we should think through before our next houseboat camping adventure?

If you decide to replace your lines that you tie to shore. Look into AMSTEEL BLUE BK 3/8 lines. I just put them on my houseboat and love them. They are super strong, very lightweight and they float. You should also tighten your lines when you are beached out. So your boat does not swing back and forth. The wind can get pretty high at anytime day or night. My houseboat is on Lake Lanier also. Love the video

Hey David! It's nice to meet another houseboater on Lake Lanier. Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for the recommendation on the Amsteel lines. These look like really high quality, and love that they float (no pool noodles needed). Great tip for tightening our lines. We've started to also tie two ropes to the side that needs more support because of the waves. Especially on a busy day on Lake Lanier, amazing how much the houseboat will move around with all of that. Hope summer is off to a great start for you!

Hey guys lovely to see you all out camping again. Lol at the binoculars and rope over the shoulder..( see, I called it rope... Line whatever haha ) Can't wait for the next one. Hope Clare had a great birthday 🎁 2 already! Stay safe all 🙏

Ha ha ha we had a lot of fun creating this one, binoculars, ropes, outtakes, and all! The next one should be a fun one, too. We can't believe Clare is already TWO. Seems like she was just 8 months old not that long ago. It was fun seeing her swimming in her floaty on her birthday, thinking she can do it all by herself. Time is flying by...hope you and your family had a great weekend!

Lol the grill lighter is key! May be one of our top must-haves because we love to grill out so much. If we had a Big Green Egg on our houseboat, then we'd be in heaven. It's been a really fun summer so far, and we're looking forward to houseboat camping again for July 4th weekend. Glad you liked the video, and it's always great to hear from you

Just discovered your channel. Love it and your boat. I grew up houseboat camping on Lanier. Best childhood ever. You asked for weather apps. “Windy” is great. We really like “My Radar” and “Weatherbug” too.

Welcome to our channel! We are very happy to have you here, and hope you enjoyed the video. Lake Lanier is such a special place, and so awesome you grew up houseboat camping here. There really isn't much else quite like it. Thank you for the weather apps tips. Never tried Windy or My Radar and will definitely give them a test.

I have a bad habit of bringing tons of beer, but not enough food to the lake. Sounds like you'll have a fun project with the batteries. I got a solar generator and a panel for my boat to power little things like fans and the fridge. Not a bad idea with the way gas prices are going
@DeepHouseboatLife2 жыл бұрын
Ha ha ha we are familiar with that bad habit, too. We kind of laughed at ourselves when filming the next video in this series because there is a shot of the inside of our fridge...and it's mostly beer. We're really pumped about the new inverter and batteries we're getting for our houseboat. Definitely going to be a bit of a learning project. That's cool you have a solar generator and panel. Bet that comes in handy - we're hoping the same for us

Looking forward to the lithium battery and inverter/charger video.

Awesome! We're looking forward to being able to share more about that soon. It's going to be a big project for us, but we think we have the community (i.e KZbin videos ha ha) to help us learn how to install it ourselves. We're glad to hear you're interested in that video

Another great video. question, as I live in Texas and not familiar with Lake Lanier, do you know or can recommend House boat rentals on Lake Lanier ?
@DeepHouseboatLife2 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked the video, Mike! As far as we know, there aren't any companies on Lake Lanier that rent out houseboats for overnight trips, just for events and parties. There are several companies on the lake that do rentals for events (L3, MyStiq, and Lanier Houseboats being 3 with which we are familiar). We've seen owners rent their houseboats out for overnight stays on AirBnB/VRBO on the lake. Not sure if the owners allow renters to take the houseboat away from the dock, though. We've heard that Lake Powell in Utah has a really cool houseboat rental setup where you can do actual trips to islands. Definitely on our bucket list to do that
