Enjoying the series and finding it very helpful. We just moved and have a blank space of a garden to hopefully make a lovely garden. Going to take our time and have our first summer here to observe where the sun goes and take notes of wind, pests etc, a lot of things I hadn't really thought of until watching your videos.

Jenny - I love the way you introduce a concept, then step out into your garden to give us a practical application. It gives me such a greater understanding. Keep up the good work. And thank you for all your research. I am so enjoying this series.

Thank you Jenny. You provided excellent information and I love how you present it all. So much food for thought. I loved going with you through the garden learning how to take everything in and come up with solutions. 💚

"Fences make good neighbours" After having the garden 22 yrs iam still out on that one. When we moved in it was rather like your plot. Boundaries, yep but open wire fencing. On the north side (lane side) we out simple wind break cloth onto the fence in the garden side planted a Photinia "red robin" hedge then in the road side a boston ivy hedge. The result us we have a green / red cascade in summer / autumn (upto 4 mtrs high) bring protected the Photinia has hit 4 meters eight too. Our south sunny side we planted yew hedging (about 1.5 mtrs tall) protection from the winds in winter but allowing the low sun into the garden in the winter months. We have a communal west side boundary that is a 90 cm height that t we have poles & running wires that we grow grape vines on. (So in winter theres nothing see). Any trees we plant are always at least 2 mtrs in as to avoid any issues with light n pruning. Finally any of the "formal" 50cm concrete base 1.80 sq fencing panels keep to a absolute minimum & then we put SLOW growing verigated ivy over with interspersed climbing hydrangea for summer colour, together with flat pruned buddleja fir the butterflies n bees. The whole purpose of the boundaries we have here is to make them work - not only for privacy & weather protection but more as habitat for the birds & insects. As a result we have a active bird population ranging from blue tits robins and sparrows right up to our resident magpies and kestrel - even an occasional crane.
