I love the idea of doing a baby blanket featuring the month a child is born. Small project, small temperature ranges, tied to them specifically. Another abbreviation version is to do a pattern that works for 104 lines and do the high and low each week. Or a temperature scarf.

You're so real for that haha. Thought the same until I saw someone do a granny square one with the high and low temperatures of every day. I ordered 8 colors from Claude Monets Sunrise painting and I can't wait to start mine when they finally arrive next week👀

I haven't done a temp blanket before. I'm thinking of doing one for this upcoming year, because it will be our first year in our house. But instead of temperatures, I'm thinking of calling it the kids' choice blanket, and let my kids rotate choosing the color of the week/day from my pallet. I have four kids, so I thought that would be fun!

So my sister and I used to live next door to each other and now we live 1100 miles apart. She taught me to crochet 30 years ago!❤ We are planning on making temperature blankets this year together!!! We picked out a pattern together, collaborated on colors and temp chart and are ready to order supplies!! This why of doing it with someone even far away and seeing how each one is different is so exciting to me!!! Can’t wait to see what the end looks like December 2024!!!

I'm making a mood scarf because I can't crochet that much every day, I'm a new crocheter and my hands aren't used to it! I like it because I'm not sticking to a "one row a day" schedule - if I want to pick it up and capture my mood, I can, but I don't have to. My scarf, my rules!

I love the first temperature blanket i made for my husband a few years ago. It was a history of our first year of marriage - starting on our wedding day, including our honeymoon to Jamaica in the middle of a Canadian winter. Very obvious colour change. It was 2 round hexagons so more like a lapghan. Kudos to anyone who completes a temperature blanket in real time!

My advice for a temperature blanket first timer is do what you can each day, even if that’s nothing for that day! And don’t be too hard on yourself. Also it’s about the journey not the destination and a Temp Blanket is a jog not a sprint if the that makes sense… ❤

I've always thought of a temperature blanket as a cute idea but a daunting task I knew I'd never finish. But you gave me the idea to do a little stuffed animal for my kids. I can check the temperatures for when I was pregnant with them and have each kid have the colors match their time in my belly so they will be unique with the different seasons I was pregnant and for how long.

I'm working on a temperature scarf this year and after getting this far, I wish I picked a different stitch. I would suggest making a bunch of swatches of different stitches, letting them percolate for a while, and then picking your stitch. I rushed into it and I regret doing that. So I'm going to work on another scarf next year and this one will be a wall hanging after I crochet or knit a border around it.

I started my 1st and last temp blanket on my 59th bday to commemorate my 60 year journey. I made it for my queen bed and used colors usually associated with the temp range. My mistakes were making the project to big, and using colors that aren't my usual pallet. This year I decided to do a historical temp scarf for the year and city I was born. I will use a pallet more to my ascetic. It will be a more manageable project and I am already looking forward to wearing my history. Thank you Toni for all the information, inspiration and support.

My daughter and I are crocheting a Temp blanket for the year 1924 for my Dad's 100th birthday this fall. We are making it in mitered granny squares laid out in 12 monthly blocks just like a 1 page printout of the year. She is also having a book made explaining the blanket with a printout of the calendar with the temps and colors. I watched this video and it gave me the idea, we just had to plan it out and start crocheting in batches!!! Thank you for all the great and informative videos that you create. You have really helped both my daughter and I to improve our skills. I just purchased new tunisian hooks and sent her my original ones to learn on now that she is better at regular crochet.

I made a temperature blanket on a whim…rather, my daughter just happened to mention the idea…I took it and ran with it….i did absolutely no reasearch…just bought yarn and started. Since I live in Louisiana I realized that there would be periods of like temperatures. I used average daily temps. That worked fine until July. I had divided the ranges in 10 degree intervals because it doesn’t get super cold here. The problem was that I realized I was not going to get average temps in the 90’s, so I adjusted my warmest range to five degrees. It worked out well. I did weave in ends…my pattern was simple…single crochet one row per day using 4 weight acrylic. I bought leather tags and tied them on at the first of each month. In 2023 my daughter, (again!) suggested seasonal placemats….i did do some thought and planning and realized that wasn’t going to work for me. So since I have a relatively small table, I decided to make seasonal table runners. I picked four colors for each season, and made four table runners…just 90 rows each…who am I kidding…I’ve only completed two and two-thirds of another. I realized after starting the winter one I realized that I started with January, 2023, and would not be able to get the December data for a year…ooops! I am very happy with the colors I chose, and you have inspired me to pick up the last two runners and complete them. I used a more textured stitch for the runners, it worked well. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, creative gifts, and most of all, your joy!

Toni, these were great tips and I totally agree with you when you said there are no rules its your blanket. This was my first year doing a temperature blanket. I went with a Sampler blanket where every month was a different stitch and 1 row every other day. I have stayed on track and the blanket is not too big. I'm thinking about doing a historical one for our 50th anniversary in 2025 but I want to work on it in 2024. Thanks again I know this video will help alot of people because it sure helped me plan for my next one.

I'm making a high/low temperature blanket about my year in Norway. I realized very quickly that the climate isn't ideal for a high/low blanket because the temperatures are so close together so I have many parts where it is the same color for high and low temperature. The highest difference I had so far was 5°C, the lowest was just straight up the same temperature throughout the whole day. Tldr: Make sure the kind of TB you choose fits your climate

Excellent video. You have so many resources and you are not afraid to share them! I won’t be making a temp blanket this year, but the four I’ve made have pretty much followed these steps completely!! ❤

I'm all caught up with my 2023 temperature blanket. I think the biggest mistake I made was making it too big. Next year, I think I'll just do the granny square where each of the seven day highs are represented by one granny square. That would be the easier route for next year's temperature blanket.

Thank you so much! This, and you, are so inspirational! I am new to crocheting and used your beginner video to learn stitches. Our small virtual crochet circle is going to plan to start this and will support each other weekly.

16:27 I'm really glad to have this mantra of " my blanket my rules" in my head as I prep and get started! I've always wanted to do a temperature blanket but have never had the motivation to get started and such detailed support as you've given in this video. Thank you for all the inspiration and for the reminder that it's my blanket and I get to set the rules! I'm going with a theme based on the colors of the Pacific coast so blues and greens and browns! So excited to get started!

Hi Toni! Love your book and your channel, both are very clear, easy to follow and visually gorgeous. So... I just started going to school for art therapy and love your idea to make one to visually chronicle my mood over the next three years. Then I'll be able to look back and see how I was feeling. Thank you for the steady flow of encouragement and inspiration, we really appreciate you.

Ha! This was a great how-to, Toni. My first temperature blanket is going well but now that the year is almost over, I'm ready for it to be done! Three squares to go (linen stitch squares)! Thanks for all your tips 👍🏾😊

I love your temperature blanket videos! i haven't made one yet because temperatures don't really compel me. i'm starting my family medicine residency next year, and i just had the thought that it might be fun to make a blanket with the number of hours i work each day lol

This video is EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you so much. I've been intimidated because I live in Texas and don't want a giant red anything. I decided on a scarf because I'm still uncertain and have ADHD, so a blanket is hard. But a scarf would be ready to wear just as it (finally) gets cold here. And now I'm inspired to choose a palette with blues, aquas, pinks, corals, and oranges instead of reds.

I attempted a temp blanket back in 2021 when I was very new to crochet, and did not set myself up for success. I did not size it right so it was going to end up super long and skinny, and to top it off was single crochet. 🫣 Needless to say, I made it to about May lol. Ready to attempt again three years later and am hoping your linen square pattern will keep me motivated! Projects with granny square style construction helps me stay motivated and get a sense of accomplishment whenever I finish a square. Thank you for the pattern!!

You’ve inspired me, Toni!! ❤️‍🔥 2024 is my year to do a temperature blankie! 🥳 I absolutely LOVE how your 2023 blanket came out so I’m going to do a similar pattern because it reminds me of the beautiful woven wool Missoni chevron patterns that I’m so gaga about 😊🩷💙🩷
